Fluence is seeking a highly experienced Senior Director Global EHS & Facilities to lead and evolve our global Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) strategy while overseeing corporate facilities management worldwide. Acting as a peer to the Senior Director of Quality & Operational Risk this corporate role provides governance frameworks and leadership that safeguard people ensure compliance with the latest standards and support Fluences mission to accelerate clean energy storage. The leader will set enterprise EHS policy define and track KPIs embed a strong safety & sustainability culture and manage a growing global facilities footprint (currently 7 sites; scaling to 1213). The role will also lead the upcoming headquarters relocation from site search through fitout and move delivery and represent Fluence with the ELT customers auditors regulators and industry associations.

What you will do at Fluence Energy:


    • Key Responsibilities
      GLOBAL EHS LEADERSHIP
    • Develop and implement a global EHS strategy systems and policies aligned with corporate objectives ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 and local regulatory requirements.
    • Establish EHS governance metrics and reporting frameworks (e.g. TRIR/LTIR/DART nearmiss CAPA cycle time; energy/waste/water intensity) for executive oversight.
    • Own the SA8000 program: audit planning and execution across sites and suppliers certification/recertification and CAPA management/closure.
    • Drive a strong safety culture (leadership behaviors reporting culture behaviorbased safety stopwork authority) and ensure global training completion and adoption.
    • Lead incident investigation rootcause analysis and corrective/preventive action programs to continuously reduce risk exposure.
    • Monitor latest standards laws and best practices; translate into global policies SOPs and implementation roadmaps.
    • Represent Fluence with regulators customers auditors and industry groups on EHS matters; actively participate in relevant associations.
    • ENVIRONMENTAL LEADERSHIP
    • Oversee environmental compliance (permits; waste chemical and water management; noise and emissions) and conduct internal/external audits.
    • Drive resource and energy efficiency programs and environmental risk reduction initiatives tied to enterprise ESG goals.
    • FACILITIES LEADERSHIP
    • Oversee global corporate facilities strategy and operations ensuring safe compliant and sustainable workplaces.
    • Manage vendor partnerships maintenance workplace safety/ergonomics space planning and cost/energy efficiency across the portfolio.
    • Scale the portfolio from 7 sites to 1213 in line with business growth establishing global standards and service levels.
    • Lead the headquarters relocation: site search/selection lease/contracting due diligence fitout move plan budget and change management; ensure ontime onbudget delivery.
    • GOVERNANCE & COLLABORATION
    • Act as a corporate EHS & Facilities leader providing guidance frameworks and escalation to executive leadership and the ELT.
    • Integrate EHS Environmental and Facilities programs to leverage synergies (shared tools combined audits/inspections unified processes and reporting).
    • Collaborate with Quality & Operational Risk Legal HR Supply Chain Commercial and Project Delivery to embed EHS into bids and execution.
    • Align with the Transformation Office to embed sustainability and continuous improvement practices in EHS and Facilities.
    • LEADERSHIP & CAPABILITY BUILDING
    • Lead a global team of EHS and Facilities professionals; define structure goals and career pathways; foster a strong community of practice.
    • Build organizational capability through tools training and culture programs that strengthen EHS ownership at all levels.
    • Foster accountability transparency and continuous improvement across regions and sites.

What you will bring to Fluence Energy:


    • QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
    • 15 years of progressive leadership in EHS and/or Facilities Management within energy/cleantech manufacturing or industrial project delivery; global scale experience.
    • Proven experience designing and scaling global EHS programs and facilities operations across multiple regions including major office relocations.
    • Strong knowledge of global regulatory frameworks and standards including ISO 45001 ISO 14001 and SA8000; proficiency in incident/RCA/CAPA leadership.
    • Demonstrated success leading large teams influencing executive stakeholders and driving culture change.
    • Strong analytical communication and executive presentation skills; vendor and budget management expertise.
    • Bachelors in Occupational Health & Safety Engineering Environmental Science or Business; advanced degree preferred.
    • Ability to lead distributed teams; international travel as needed.
