Description of Service Opportunity:

Position Description
Cambridge Public Schools is seeking a pool of skilled and experienced part-time as needed technical theater professionals to support the running of the new and recently renovated school theaters in the city. The selected Technical Specialist will be responsible for attending to the year-round rental needs and uses of the CPS recently renovated and newly built school theaters.

Dates & Locations
The work assignments are part-time as-needed positions with varying schedules. Evening and weekend work availability is required. A 3-hour minimum per shift is guaranteed. Assignments are based on when the theaters are rented and/or when there are scheduled events outside of the school day. Positions may begin July 2024 and will be located at one of the 3 theaters including the MLK/PAUS school CSUS/King Open school and Cambridge Rindge and Latin School. Occasionally they may be based out of any other of our theaters.

Qualifications:

This work includes overseeing all technical aspects of the theater while in use by CPSD the City of Cambridge and outside renters. The Technical Specialist (TS) is to ensure proper use and care of CPS equipment and the facility by preparing the space for the arrival of the user assisting with the operation of theatrical lighting and sound advising staging and possible stagecraft development. The TS should be very familiar with the Eos family of lighting control the Soundcraft Digital series of sound control basic microphone and speaker placement and use as well as good working knowledge of computers (pc/mac) and projectors. The TS acts as a representative of the CPS and should have excellent communication and customer service skills as well as the ability to work with young learners and community members.

Candidates must have experience and strong knowledge of technical theater
Knowledge of technical theater boards panels and equipment
Customer Service experience

Compensation
For rental work $50 per hour-Monday-Saturday $65 per hour- Sunday-Holiday; 3-hour minimum; this position is not eligible for benefits. Please note this rate does not apply to other technical positions as those are stipend based.

Length of Contract:

July 1 2025 through June 15 2026

Contract Amount:

Not exceed $6500.00

Please note that your hourly rate is dependent upon your collective bargaining agreement or individual hourly rate. If you are a non-exemptemployee and have worked more than 40 hours a week you will be paid time and a half for any hours worked over 40 hours
