The Council on Alcoholism & Drug Abuse (CADA) is hiring a Development Coordinator to join our Development team on a part-time temporary basis in downtown Santa Barbara.
This 6-month assignment offers a unique opportunity to contribute to meaningful work while gaining hands-on experience in nonprofit fundraising and donor relations. As a key support to the Development team the Development Coordinator plays an essential role in strengthening donor engagement maintaining accurate records and helping drive fundraising efforts that sustain CADAs mission. The position is ideal for someone passionate about community impact and eager to grow in the nonprofit sector. There is potential for this position to transition into a permanent role at the end of the temporary assignment.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelors Degree preferred or in progress.
  • Administrative and customer service experience required.
  • Superior oral written telephone and email communication skills.
  • Strong time management and ability to engage with a wide variety of constituencies.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Familiarity with or willingness to learn basic graphic design tools (Photoshop and InDesign).
  • Knowledge of the Santa Barbara philanthropic community and nonprofit funding sources is a plus.
Responsibilities:
  • Provide administrative support to the Development Department.
  • Handle confidential donor information with discretion and professionalism.
  • Cultivate relationships with donors foundations media community coalitions and partner agencies.
  • Maintain database integrity for gifts pledges grants donor records and event tracking.
  • Respond to donor inquiries regarding donations recurring gifts matching gift requests mailing preferences and tax documentation.
  • Prepare and send timely acknowledgments receipts pledge letters and other donor correspondence.
  • Assist in planning and executing fundraising campaigns and special events including list segmentation donor research and solicitation tracking.
  • Collaborate with staff to gather stories photos and data for use in social media email marketing (Constant Contact) and website updates.
Schedule: Part-Time 9:00am-2:00pm 4 days/week (20 hours/week)
Compensation: $25-$28/hour depending on experience and qualifications
Location: Downtown Santa Barbara
Additional Requirements: In compliance with the California Department of Health Care Services staff must maintain an up-to-date Tuberculosis test during employment.
