Position Summary:

We are a leader in career planning and preparation balancing the latest technology with professional guidance in the Marianist tradition. Join our team as a Assistant Director/Career Advisor!

The primary purpose of this position is to provide career guidance to students and alumni individually and in groups including choice of major and career resume construction job search strategy networking interviewing and other relevant career issues. The Assistant Director will serve as a liaison to the School of Business Administration and a number of programs maintain regular contact with department leaders and faculty and provide customized guidance and programming. The position also functions as a generalist and will advise all majors in addition to the assigned liaison areas. The Assistant Director will participate in or lead special projects and events such as career related courses presentations committees and others as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelors degree.
Two years of experience working with students in a higher education setting (this may include time spent working as a Graduate Assistant) recruiting or a human resource setting.
Experience presenting workshops to large and small audiences.
Knowledge of career related issues such as resume construction interviewing job search strategy etc.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Strong attention to detail.
Effective interpersonal skills and ability to establish rapport with a wide variety of people.
Computer proficiency.

Preferred Qualifications:

While not everyone may possess all of the preferred qualifications the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:

Masters degree in counseling college student personnel higher education administration education human resources or related field.
Certification and experience in the Myers Briggs Type Indicator and Strong Interest Inventory.
Business background or experience advising business majors.
Experience with career support software such as Handshake or an applicant tracking system.
Experience working with international students and people from historically underrepresented backgrounds.
Dynamic public speaking and presentation skills in person and virtually.
Experience with planning and executing events.
Computer proficiency particularly in Microsoft Word PowerPoint and Excel.
Experience utilizing social media such as networking tools including LinkedIn Instagram and X.
Teaching experience.
Supervision experience of student staff members or interns.
Knowledge of and sensitivity to a Catholic Marianist work environment.
Willingness to travel for career events and conferences including some overnight and weekend travel.
