Position Overview

Are you ready to make a real impact on workplace safety FortisBC is seeking a dynamic Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) Manager Contractor Safety to champion safety and compliance across our contractor this pivotal role youll develop and oversee our Contractor Safety Management Program (CSMP) ensuring every external worker operates in a safe high-performing environment.

In this role you will:

  • Manage the CSMP ensure compliance with WorkSafeBC and Technical Safety BC and define FortisBCs prime contractor responsibilities.
  • Collaborate on RFPs oversee onboarding and training and track safety performance using dashboards.
  • Deliver on-site safety support through orientations job observations and safety briefings. Maintain a strong field presence to drive proactive engagement and accountability.
  • Direct investigations into contractor-related incidents and ensure timely corrective actions. Oversee safety event reporting and data analysis providing strategic insights to senior leadership.
  • Act as the main safety contact for contractors regulators and internal teams; contributes to safety summits and meetings.

What it takes:

  • Bachelors degree in Occupational Health & Safety Environmental Health or related field.
  • 47 years of experience in contractor or construction safety management.
  • CRSP designation (or ability to obtain) and formal training in safety investigations.
  • Valid BC Drivers License.
  • Strong knowledge of contractor safety legislation and prime contractor responsibilities.
  • Experience with contractor qualification systems and safety performance analytics.
  • Skilled in incident investigation field coaching and safety program development.

In this role you will have the option to participate in a flexible work program enabling you to work from an approved flex location in British Columbia up to 85 days a year (equivalent to approximately two days a week) subject to business or operational needs.
