Job Summary:

The Population Health Data Analyst oversees data-driven population health initiatives and manages projects to improve patient outcomes streamline care delivery and ensure compliance with value-based performance goals. This role involves analyzing health data managing project workgroups and implementing best practices in transitional care chronic care management and population health metrics. It requires a combination of technical expertise business acumen strategy planning capabilities and strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Population Health Analytics (40%)

    • Develop and maintain population health dashboards and reports to identify trends and disparities.

    • Extract analyze and present data insights to support strategic decision-making.

    • Ensure compliance with data integrity and privacy regulations (e.g. HIPAA).

    • Collaborate with teams to produce internal and external reports such as Social Determinants of Health (SDoH) analyses.

    • Forecasting (short- and long-term) variance analysis long-range strategic data analysis and overall progress toward OVBP patient care gap closures and financial goals.

  • Project Management (30%)

    • Lead and oversee projects related to population health and care coordination.

    • Develop detailed project plans and timelines.

    • Facilitate the project workgroup to meet organizational goals.

    • Monitor project progress and present updates to leadership.

    • Identify and implement process improvements for care delivery optimization.

  • Compliance and Quality Assurance (20%)

    • Develop and maintain reporting dissemination data automation systems dashboards and performance metrics that support key business decisions and relieve administrators of one-off disparate and inconsistent reporting.

    • Make decisions on how the data is presented how it is related and interpret the requirements/needs when socializing the information.

    • Communicate complex technical concepts to stakeholders fostering a data-driven decision-making culture.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A bachelors degree in information technology business administration finance healthcare administration population health or a related field from an accredited institution.

  • Three (3) years of experience utilizing data from multiple databases and reporting systems structuring it to meet reporting needs and informing business decisions.

Substitution: A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelors degree and experience requirements yearly.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A masters degree in information technology business administration finance healthcare administration or a related field from an accredited institution.

  • Three (3) years of experience using a variety of analytic techniques to contribute to an organizations strategic initiatives projects and business outcomes.

  • Five (5) years of experience leading and managing business analytics functions.

  • Business analytics experience in an academic medical institution.

  • Experience in extracting analyzing and presenting data insights to support strategic decision-making.

  • Experience utilizing Power Query & Power BI DAX.

  • Experience utilizing EPIC at an expert level.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

Advanced proficiency with data visualization tools (e.g. Tableau Power BI).

  • Strong proficiency with Excel (Pivot Tables VLOOKUP etc.)

  • Working knowledge of data mining principles: predictive analytics mapping and collecting data from multiple data systems on-premises and cloud-based data sources.

  • Strong SQL skills and ability to perform effective querying involving multiple tables and subqueries.

  • Understanding of the end-to-end flow of the existing data tools across the Community Practice Division (CPD) - where the data originates challenges with the source data and how we addressed those issues.

  • Ability to communicate effectively both in writing and orally.

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution.

  • Outstanding customer service skills.

  • Understanding of a broad range of information technologies and their applicability to the business process while recognizing shortcomings of existing technologies in determining best available solutions.

  • Ability to provide strategic project management in coordinating and organizing resources establishing priorities and ensuring the project is completed satisfactorily and in a timely manner.

  • Ability to learn and support new systems and applications.

  • Ability to provide technical training to end users including being able to communicate technical information in a manner that non-technical personnel can understand.

  • Blend of technical expertise business acumen strategic planning capabilities and strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.

  • Extensive knowledge and expertise in budgeting financing and accounting within a higher education setting.

  • Proven organizational and analytic skills throughout a complex and matrixed organization.

Anticipated Pay Range:

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as $76517 to $97329.

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the Universitys good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation depending on the level.
