The Gas Transmission Integrity Management organization is responsible for evaluating the risk and threats to the integrity of the gas transmission system then developing and implementing a strategic integrity management plan for the entirety of the gas transmission pipeline assets. The Integrity engineer is a critical position within the TIMP team to help ensure Enbridge maintains safe and reliable pipelines which comply with federal regulations. The Integrity engineer will promote a safety culture throughout all levels of the organization with an emphasis on improving learning from the past and anticipating the future.
This role is characterized by being able to perform difficult and complex work requiring thorough knowledge of the subject matter and significant experience within functional assignment area. At higher levels of proficiency within this classification incumbents are expected to provide technical expertise and/or team leadership as needed.
The position will be in Gastonia NC (Charlotte area).
What You Will Do:
- Provides engineering support for Integrity Management (IM) plan administration compliance implementation and documentation.
- Provides engineering support for individual IM assessments remediation activity data analysis.
- Provides progress metrics on IM activities.
- Technology and project development supporting IM.
- Schedules and coordinates major segments of complex projects to meet cost and time objectives.
- Plans and conducts work requiring judgment in the independent evaluation selection adaptation and modification of standard techniques procedures and criteria.
- Devises new approaches to problems encountered and develops engineering criteria ensuring compliance with design criteria and standards.
- Apply intensive and diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices to major projects that have significant impact on programs in varied areas and related fields
- Serve as a technical expert on engineering related legal and regulatory issues to outside entities.
- Provide guidance to less experienced engineers.
- Provide input in setting objectives and policy identifying critical issues and introducing new concepts.
- Provides assistance advice and solutions to peers customers and co-workers.
- Identifies and implements better work alternatives and business processes.
Who You Are:
You have:
- Bachelors Degree in an Engineering discipline and 5 years relevant engineering experience.
- Relevant Engineering Experience includes: Engineering Integrity Management Quality Management Gas Pipeline Operations Cathodic Protection/Corrosion Engineering Pipeline Compliance Design/Construction Industrial/Systems Engineering.
- REQUIRED ENGINEERING CRITERIA: For placement of a candidate in the Engineer job series the following criteria must be met:
- Possess a 4-year engineering degree from an ABET accredited engineering program based on the year that the engineering program was accredited by ABET or
- Possess a 4-year engineering degree from an institution outside of the U.S. which is accredited through the countrys own engineering accrediting body under the Washington Accord as a full signatory and is a degree that was recognized by the countrys accrediting body on or after the date that full signatory status was achieved or
- Possess a 4-year engineering degree from a non-ABET accredited program and a post-graduate engineering degree from an institution where the undergraduate degree in the same engineering discipline is ABET accredited based on the year the engineering program was accredited by ABET or
- Possess a 4-year degree in Physics Chemistry or Math and a post-graduate engineering degree from an institution where the undergraduate degree in the same engineering discipline is ABET accredited based on the year the engineering program was accredited by ABET or
- Holds or has previously held a valid U.S. Professional Engineer license.
- Valid drivers license with safe driving record.
- Strong leadership skills with proven ability to serve as team project lead.
- Strong oral and written communication skills (including technical writing).
- Strong personal computer skills.
- Proven decision-making skills.
- Strong planning organizational and project management skills.
- In depth knowledge of various computer applications with the ability to manipulate personal computer applications and perform engineering calculations using applicable software programs (e.g. Excel etc.).

- Skilled in use of advanced techniques and modification and extension of theories precepts and practices of the field and related sciences and disciplines.
- Able to think analytically and solve complex problems.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree and 7 years directly related experience in natural gas pipeline integrity. 5 years previous experience in natural gas pipeline integrity pipeline design pipeline operation pipeline repair or pipeline construction experience; or 2 years previous experience with integrity methods (in line inspection (ILI) pressure testing or direct assessment methods) and assessment evaluation; and Experience with regulatory compliance at Federal State or local levels (DOT PHMSA etc.).
