COMPANY INFORMATION
Our client is a well-established company that specializes in leasing and maintaining construction plant and machinery (CPM) to support contractors engaged in road dam and general civil works projects across Kenya. The company operates a diverse fleet that includes articulated dump trucks excavators graders rollers and other heavy-duty equipment that facilitate a range of construction activities such as excavation earthworks material haulage soil stabilization and asphalt paving.
ROLE PURPOSE
The Junior Heavy Plant Mechanic will support the maintenance and repair of the companys construction equipment fleet across project sites. The role requires hands-on experience in mechanical repair and servicing of heavy construction machinery as well as an understanding of safety preventive maintenance and diagnostic procedures. The position calls for an NYS-trained mechanic with strong technical aptitude and discipline able to work both independently and as part of a maintenance team to keep equipment operating efficiently.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist in performing preventive and corrective maintenance on heavy construction equipment including ADTs graders excavators rollers and related machinery.
Conduct routine inspections identify faults and perform basic mechanical repairs under supervision.
Support troubleshooting activities and escalate complex mechanical or electrical issues to senior mechanics.
Maintain accurate service records tool inventories and maintenance logs.
Adhere to safety standards and workshop procedures at all times.
Provide field support during active projects to minimize equipment downtime.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
Must be an NYS-trained Plant Mechanic.
Basic electrical knowledge in heavy equipment systems with ability to diagnose minor issues and escalate complex ones.
Skilled in the use of diagnostic tools repair manuals and workshop equipment.
Diploma or certificate in mechanical engineering automotive engineering or a related technical field.
4 to 6 years of experience working with heavy plant and construction equipment.
Strong understanding of hydraulic electrical and mechanical systems used in heavy machinery.
Ability to work long hours and adapt to dynamic construction site environments.
Experience working in an equipment leasing or construction company is an added advantage.
