Job Summary

Job Title: Art TeacherReports to: Building AdministratorFull time for the 2025-2026 school year with potential reduction in future Overview:The Middle School Art Teacher will be responsible for designing and delivering a dynamic and inclusive visual arts curriculum for students in grades 58. The ideal candidate is enthusiastic about fostering creativity integrating technology and supporting cross-curricular collaboration with a focus on STEAM education. The teacher will be familiar with the National Core Arts Standards and committed to guiding students in both technical and conceptual artistic position also includes supporting students during school-wide Flex periods which may include enrichment and/or intervention. The position for the 25-26 school year includes collaborative design and teaching of Genius Hour projects for students in grades 7 & 8 as well as a weekly advisory Responsibilities:

Adheres to the policies of the Jamestown School Department.
Adheres to all District Federal and State policies procedures and regulations for IDEA & ADA.
Promotes the attainment of the Districts mission vision and strategic plan through Art Education.
Displays strong and deep knowledge of subject matter content.
Communicates high and clear expectations to all students and families.
Demonstrates strong knowledge of Curriculum Standards and Assessment (providing positive feedback from teacher peers and self)
Develop and implement engaging art lessons aligned with the National Core Arts Standards.
Introduce students to a variety of artistic media styles and techniques.
Integrate STEAM (Science Technology Engineering Arts Math) principles into art instruction where appropriate.
Utilize technology and digital media as tools for artistic expression and learning.
Provide students with opportunities for choice voice and personal expression in their artistic work.
Incorporate fundamental academic skills such as reading writing and mathematics into visual art lessons.
Use art as a vehicle to reinforce core learning concepts and deepen understanding across content areas.
Lead an Advisory class weekly.
Provide supervision support and guidance during Flex periods.
Collaborate with classroom teachers and specialists to create interdisciplinary learning experiences.
Support other content areas through cross-curricular learning opportunities that connect art with science social studies language arts and math.
Actively participate in grade-level teams staff meetings and school-wide initiatives.
Coordinate with colleagues to display student work and showcase learning throughout the school.
Assess student progress using multiple measures including formative and summative assessments. Communication through student information system to students and parents on a regular basis.
Provide timely constructive feedback to students.
Create a classroom environment that is welcoming organized and safe.
Foster an atmosphere of respect curiosity and growth mindset.
Manage materials tools and equipment responsibly and teach students to do the same.

PREFERRED:Experience teaching middle school students (grades 58)Demonstrated interest or experience in STEAM educationFamiliarity with digital art tools design software or other educational technologyStrong interpersonal and collaboration skillsQualifications:1. Certificate required by the Rhode Island State Department of Education. Current Rhode Island Art Educator Pre-kindergarten to 12 (11501)
