Key job responsibilities
As the Software Development Manager for Subscription Retention you will be responsible for driving the technical strategy and overseeing the execution of innovative solutions that directly impact our bottom line. Your mission will be to enhance customer retention reduce churn and optimize the entire subscription lifecycle through the latest technology and data-driven approaches.
In this role youll lead a team of talented engineers fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement. Youll be expected to leverage your deep technical expertise coupled with a strong understanding of subscription business models to develop and implement sophisticated retention strategies.
This position requires not only technical prowess but also strong business acumen and leadership skills. Youll work closely with cross-functional teams including Product Management Marketing central tech teams and other digital businesses like Alexa PV Prime to align technical solutions with business objectives and customer needs.
As a senior leader in the organization youll also play a key role in shaping our overall technical direction mentoring the next generation of engineering talent and representing our technical capabilities to executive leadership and external partners.
This is a high-impact role with significant visibility and the potential to drive substantial business value through technological innovation in the critical area of customer retention.
- 3 years of engineering team management experience
- 7 years of working directly within engineering teams experience
- 3 years of designing or architecting (design patterns reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- 8 years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience
- Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle including coding standards code reviews source control management build processes testing certification and livesite operations
- Experience partnering with product or program management teams
- Experience in communicating with users other technical teams and senior leadership to collect requirements describe software product features technical designs and product strategy
- Experience in recruiting hiring mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills and make them more effective product software engineers

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $166400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $287700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge skills and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
