Teaching Qualification Requirements:
M.A. or Ph.D. in Italian or registered in the Italian Studies graduate program at McGill. Native or near native fluency in Italian required.
Experience:
A minimum of two semesters as instructor of a course at a similar level or to be a graduate student in Italian Studies in the Department of Languages Literatures and Cultures at McGill University. Course lecturers must demonstrate a familiarity with the course materials used in Italian Studies language courses.
A Course Lecturer assignment includes all or part of the following teaching activities:
a) preparation of the Course and Course plan;
b) delivery of the Course;
c) evaluation of students;
d) submitting to the University a report on student attendance and student grades;
e) supervision of Teaching Assistants or any other teaching support staff;
f) upon request review of their students grades;
g) meeting with students being available to answer questions and give advice concerning Course content and requirements;
Employees shall perform their duties in compliance with the Pedagogical Regulation and as specified in the administrative directives of the Hiring Unit. An Employee shall use appropriate pedagogical methods and material.
Department of Languages Literatures and Cultures:
Instructors of language courses must adhere to the guidelines set by the Language Program Directors (LPDs). In assuming a language position the successful applicant agrees to the guidelines set by LPDs and to (1) teach the scheduled classes; (2) use the prescribed course materials and follow the class plan and test schedule established in the syllabus; 3)collaborate with colleagues to prepare in-class tests quizzes exercises and final exams; (4) invigilate any scheduled in-class exams final exams and oral-exams; and (5) attend scheduled meetings with the Language Program Director. Applicants must submit a letter of introduction an updated CV course evaluations for all courses taught in the past two years and a teaching philosophy statement (one page).

This is the second half of a 6-credit course that will be taught in the Winter 2026 academic term at 3 course hour credits.
