Job Summary


A Brief Overview

Queens University is committed to strengthening alumni engagement and philanthropic support in key markets through a strategic integrated approach. Reporting to the Director Global Alumni Strategy the Alumni Officer will play a vital role in executing regional engagement strategies that foster meaningful alumni connections mobilize volunteers and drive philanthropic growth.

The position requires close collaboration with advancement colleagues university partners and lead volunteers to implement tailored market strategies engage alumni in Queens initiatives and strengthen regional philanthropic efforts. Core areas include:

- Enhancing alumni engagement through high-impact programming aligned with Queens priorities.

- Performing market analysis.

- Managing and supporting alumni branch volunteers ensuring they have the resources guidance and recognition needed to effectively engage their communities.

- Building and maintaining strong volunteer networks providing leadership development opportunities and fostering a sense of ownership among alumni leaders.

- Identifying cultivating and stewarding donors to increase philanthropic contributions in alignment with regional priorities.

- Advancing the universitys strategic priorities including volunteerism philanthropy and institutional reputation-building.

As a key connector between alumni and the university this role demands strong partnerships across campus and with Development Campus Partners and the Queens University Alumni Association (QUAA) to create meaningful alumni experiences empower volunteers and support institutional objectives.

Travel is an inherent nature of this role and requires regular presence in assigned regions (up to 50% of time in assigned regions both nationally and internationally) is expected along with flexibility to work evenings and weekends to accommodate alumni availability.

This position executes the alumni engagement volunteer and fundraising goals and strategies. This position manages relationships and fundraising efforts with current and prospective reunion-based volunteers and builds and stewards new and existing relationships. This position also identifies evaluates cultivates solicits and stewards donors for gifts and fosters long-term relationships with these donors which support the ongoing activities and reputation of the University.

The schedule for this position requires the incumbent to work variable hours on a regular basis including evenings and addition travel is an inherent part of the position. This position is subject to the Averaging and Travel Time Credit provisions of the USW Local 2010 Collective Agreement.

Job Description

What you will do

  • Facilitates the establishment and stewardship of new and existing funds nurtures long-term relationships with existing donors and fosters ongoing philanthropic giving.
  • Develops recommends implements and refines integrated alumni-development short and long-term plans and strategies and resolves problems encountered in implementation.
  • Ensures that the strategy plans and programs reflect the program objectives.
  • Plans organizes implements and monitors programs.
  • Identifies evaluates cultivates solicits and stewards donors for gifts and fosters long-term relationships with these donors.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with multiple key campus organizations.
  • Pursues continuous improvement initiatives; develops and reports on metrics to demonstrate progress in portfolio.
  • Assembles and analyses data to evaluate international activities.
  • Monitors recommends and implements improvements to processes and systems based on accurate and timely program analysis.
  • Serves as lead liaison to various councils committees and associations; Council; arranges and facilitates meetings agendas terms of reference and follow up.
  • Acts as staff advisor to student association.
  • Writes alumni and donor briefing notes in support of key international opportunities.
  • Assists with pre/post visit planning and follow-up including updating all contact and assessment.
  • Prepares and coordinates itineraries and briefing materials for senior administrators for international visits.
  • Researches develops coordinates and oversees programs in alumni relations and annual giving to engage students and young alumni.
  • Identifies opportunities for key classes to pursue reunion class giving projects.
  • Other duties as required in support of the department and/or unit.
Required Education
  • Four-Year Bachelor Degree or addition requires trade certification qualification or on-going learning to remain ahead of changes in technology or emerging fields.
    Required Experience
    • More than 3 years and up to and including 5 years of experience.
      • Knowledge of relationship building fundraising and stewardship considered an asset.
      • Experience in data trend analysis and reporting considered an asset.
      • Experience planning coordinating and/or managing events or promotions considered an asset.
      • Experience developing and/or implementing fundraising and/or major gift plans considered an asset.
      • Previous experience building relationships with donors considered an asset.
      • Experience developing coordinating and producing promotional and marketing material considered an asset.
    Required Licenses and Certifications
    • Satisfactory Criminal Records Check required.
    • G Drivers Licence required.
    • Valid Passport with no travel restrictions is required.
    • A volunteer administrator certificate is considered an asset.

    Consideration may be given to an equivalent combination of education and experience.
