Job Summary

An ambitious and forward-thinking Ofsted Outstanding school in Taunton is seeking a passionate Biology Teacher to join their thriving Science Department from January 2026. This is a full-time permanent position within a school recognised for academic excellence exceptional pastoral care and a culture of curiosity and innovation.

About the Role

The successful teacher will deliver Biology from KS3 through to KS5 nurturing a deep understanding of the living world and its interconnections. Lessons will balance theory and experimentation encouraging students to develop practical scientific skills through hands-on investigations dissections fieldwork and research-based projects.

The Biology Department has cultivated a strong culture of inquiry and critical thinking where students are challenged to question explore and hypothesise. The postholder will play an integral role in planning assessment and curriculum enrichment ensuring students are equipped to excel at GCSE and A-Level and pursue STEM degrees at top universities.

Teachers in the department are encouraged to take a creative approach to teaching incorporating technology real-world issues and ethical discussions into their lessons. Opportunities also exist to contribute to extracurricular programmes including science clubs eco-initiatives and the schools annual STEM Week.

Experience and Qualifications

  • QTS/PGCE and a degree in Biology or a related life science field.
