About the Opportunity

Indigenous Job Match is honoured to share this exciting opportunity with Tenants Queensland (TQ) a respected statewide community legal service supporting renters across the state.

Tenants Queensland is seeking a First Nations Project Manager to lead the Successful Tenancies Project a vital initiative designed to address structural barriers experienced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander renters and strengthen organisational cultural capability across the tenancy support sector.

This identified role will lead a small project team to develop practical culturally grounded solutions that empower First Nations renters enhance relationships between housing providers and communities and build greater understanding within the tenancy ecosystem.

Your Impact

As the Successful Tenancies Project Manager you will:

  • Lead and deliver the Successful Tenancies Project from initiation through to completion.
  • Strengthen relationships with First Nations communities services and partner organisations.
  • Build TQs cultural capability and ensure tenancy services are inclusive respectful and effective.
  • Oversee consultation and co-design processes with First Nations agencies.
  • Manage a small internal team and external project partners.
  • Develop a training and education package for real estate agents and landlords to improve culturally informed tenancy practices.

About You

Youre a First Nations leader passionate about housing justice and community empowerment. You bring:

  • A strong understanding of the challenges faced by First Nations renters in Queensland.
  • Proven experience leading projects or programs within community services housing or advocacy.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • The ability to develop culturally appropriate education and engagement strategies.
  • An understanding (or ability to quickly acquire knowledge) of the Residential Tenancies and Rooming Accommodation Act 2008.

A qualification in Social Work Social Science Law or First Nations Studies is desirable but not essential.

Established in 1986 Tenants Queensland (TQ) is a specialist statewide community legal service representing the interests of all Queensland renters. TQ provides free tenancy advice community education and advocacy for fairer rental laws through its flagship program QSTARS.
