  • Job Title: Trauma-Informed School Interventionist
    Reports to: Assistant Principal of Operations
    Terms and Conditions: Non-Affiliated Full-time 8 hours per day 12-month position.
    Salary: $76000 $100000 annual salary depending on qualifications and experience prorated to start date. Full benefits package including medical dental life and retirement plan.

    Position Summary
    This role encompasses three major functions: culturally-sensitive trauma-informed responses; restorative practices; and school-community liaison to support the Strategic Plan priorities of Racial Equity and Supportive Learning Environment. Develops coordinates and implements trauma-informed and restorative practices and serves as a liaison between the school families and community partners. Works with administrative instructional and non-instructional staff to put into place evidence-based trauma-informed systems and restorative practices to reduce re-traumatization promote student resilience and increase positive academic and non-academic outcomes for students. Establishes a comprehensive trauma-informed approach to address both preventative and responsive measures for students. Collaborates with Pupil Support Services staff in providing needed interventions to students who have experienced significant trauma. Partners with families to provide targeted support to students.

    Essential Job Functions
    Trauma-Informed Practices:

    1. Develops coordinates and implements trauma-informed practices in the district.
    2. Provides leadership for the development and promotion of trauma-awareness to promote trauma-informed and strength-based approaches in schools.
    3. Serves as liaison to community partners agencies advocates parents and students to implement trauma-informed practices in the district.
    4. Works collaboratively with the school instructional and non-instructional staff to implement a comprehensive trauma-informed approach to address both preventative and responsive measures for students.
    5. Works with district leadership staff to ensure that policies and procedures reflect an understanding of the role of trauma in student behaviors.
    6. Assesses staff training needs and provides training on trauma-awareness and evidence-based approaches.
    7. Develops and implements trauma-informed behavioral health assessments and interventions for students.
    8. Provides support to faculty and staff who are experiencing or have experienced trauma from student behaviors in their spaces
    9. Supports the implementation of student and family-targeted universal education and messaging strategies (could include the development of materials to be used in person newsletter or online and social media-based) focusing on resiliency and healing
    10. Participates in professional development on best practices in evidence-based trauma-informed practices.
    11. Performs other activities as assigned.

    Restorative Practices:

    1. Assists with the education and understanding of the use of universal restorative practices throughout the school.
    2. Provides direct support to teachers to develop in-class systems of support for students using proactive restorative practices
    3. Supports the facilitation of restorative practices throughout the school including non-classroom staff (such as Campus Safety Food Service Staff B&G etc.)
    4. Establishes and coordinates Peace Room

    School-Community Liaison:

    1. Develops and strengthens relationships with community partners including our feeder schools local businesses non-profit organizations and police departments in order to provide support for students and their families.
    2. Explores and increases networking opportunities to health mental health and other community-based partner organizations and/or social service organizations that might serve Tier III students in order to facilitate improved integration and coordination between the school and outside partners.

    Qualifications

    1. Masters degree (preferred) from an accredited college or university preferably in psychology or a related field.
    2. Two or more years of experience organizing or implementing trauma-informed and evidence-based prevention and intervention services.
    3. Commitment to equity and eliminating systemic obstacles for students of color and other minoritized groups.

    Knowledge Skills and Abilities

    Demonstrated knowledge of:

    1. evidence-based trauma informed practices;
    2. the techniques of assessing training needs and delivery;
    3. current social educational and economic issues as they relate to families of color;
    4. the methods and techniques for effective program administration;
    5. research and data analysis methods and techniques;

    Demonstrated ability to:

    1. plan coordinate and implement school-wide training initiatives and trauma informed practices;
    2. interpret and explain policies and apply them to individual circumstances and situations in an appropriate manner;
    3. organize and maintain accurate records of services and interventions;
    4. conduct program evaluation to ensure that identified objectives are being met in accordance with established goals;
    5. proficiently use technology including but not limited to Microsoft and Google office suites;
    6. effectively communicate both verbally and in writing;
    7. establish and maintain effective working relationships;
    8. exercise appropriate independent initiative ingenuity and judgment.
