JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY:

The ideal Collaborative Foster Care Program Certification Caseworker candidate should be familiar with foster care policy rules and regulations and Volume 7 regulations for foster care and kinship foster care certification. Structured Analysis Family Evaluation (SAFE) certification will be required as this position is responsible for the yearly completion of home study updates.

We are looking for someone who has excellent communication and family engagement skills as well as strong writing skills and who will promote a positive work environment.

SCHEDULE:

Personal Choice Work Model: After six months of employment all employees can work with their supervisor to develop a work model that allows them to meet the needs of the families they serve. This means an employee may be able to work from the office more or from home more with some general expectations such as in-person tasks required by your role such as facilitated family meetings in person if the family chooses in-person group supervision at least monthly etc.

COMPENSATION:

Target Hiring Range: $64000.00 $65000.00 USD Annual

Compensation will be determined based on education experience and skills.

Essential Duties consist of but are not limited to:

  • Monthly supervision and assessment of certified foster and kinship homes ensuring requirements are met to achieve/maintain certification and providing support to families to ensure their ability to care for children in foster care.

  • Monitoring and supporting of certified foster and kinship homes strong collaboration with primary caseworkers and other collaterals quality documentation of contacts and assisting in the recruitment retention and training of foster and kinship families for the Collaborative Foster Care Program.

  • The CFCP is striving to have a presence in all 3 Counties through attendance at family meetings group supervisions and other meetings when necessary.

  • Joint home visits with primary Caseworkers and foster care providers is encouraged.

  • This position will assess new foster parent applicants and make recommendations regarding their ability to meet the requirements for certification and to provide a safe home for children. This position prepares and presents families to the programs Certification Review Team for approval.

  • The position may assist with a limited number of requests for foster care placements.

  • Members of the CFCP team are cross-trained provide placement desk back-up coverage and may have other primary responsibilities within the unit including support and retention events.

  • After hours visits may be to meet the needs of foster families.

  • The candidate will occasionally need to assist with foster/adoption orientation and with other ongoing training which may require meeting with current and prospective foster families in the evening.

  • Collaborate with various community partners resources and agencies to meet all state and federal requirements for adult protection or child welfare outcomes. Recruit train and monitor foster families. Mediate conflict between family and social systems. Work with multi-disciplinary teams attending supervision and meetings to ensure best action is taken. May participate in agency community and State workgroups and committees.

  • The hours of this position can be unpredictable.

  • Assessing safety of a child/youth and making decisions based on the information available.

  • Advocating for families and children testifying in court and de-escalating potentially volatile situations.

  • Responsible for addressing crisis situations that occur in foster and kinship homes.

  • Daily travel around the Denver Metro area and periodic travel throughout Colorado.

  • Will work with and support families who are dealing with substance abuse mental health domestic violence multi-generational poverty child abuse child neglect and sexual abuse.

  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education: A bachelors degree from a higher education institution with course work related to the job responsibilities of child welfare social caseworker. Course work examples can include and are not limited to the development of human behavior child development family intervention techniques diagnostic measures or therapeutic techniques; and

  • Experience: Professional internship or volunteer work experience in a human services related agency. Some examples of appropriate experience could include: clinical experience residential childcare experience milieu experience domestic violence case manager paid victims advocate paralegal or legal clerk probation officer law enforcement corrections work shelter experience arbitration forensic interviewing para-professional work educational work and/or other case management experience

Preferred knowledge skills and abilities:

  • Spanish speaking but not necessary

Additional Information:

  • Offer of employment contingent on criminal history state automated case management system check MVR check and education verification.
  • Must not have one of the following convictions: Child abuse crime of violence unlawful sexual behavior or felony for domestic violence.
  • Must not have a felony involving physical assault battery or drug-related offense within the past five years.
  • Must not have a pattern of misdemeanor convictions within the past 10 years.
  • Must have valid drivers license if you are from out of state you must obtain a valid Colorado drivers license within 30 days of hire date and you must not have any major violations including DUI DWI and/or DWAI conviction(s) in the past three years.

In this position you must be available for some evenings.
