Job Summary

AECOM is seeking an Environmental Scientist II to join our Remediation team based in Fort Lauderdale.  We are seeking candidates who wish to pursue a career in environmental science specific to environmental assessment and remediation projects.

The successful candidate will be enthusiastic about environmental remediation and will join a large established team conducting environmental assessment and remediation projects across the Fort Lauderdale area.

This position requires excellent written and spoken communication skills organizational and time management skills flexibility to work on a range of projects and a positive attitude. The successful candidate will have the ability to communicate effectively with members of the project team clients site personnel and office management and have the ability to work both independently and as a part of a project team.

Please take note this role may require travel outside of the Fort Lauderdale area (from days to weeks) to support projects as needed across the United States. The selected candidate will join a large established team conducting environmental assessment and remediation projects across the region. 

The job responsibilities for this position will include but are not limited to:

  • Performing routine fieldwork working under close supervision from project managers. Fieldwork may include soil sediment surface water and/or groundwater sampling drilling oversight operation and maintenance of remedial systems and remedial construction oversight including subcontractor management.
  • Participating in site visits and coordinating and assisting field staff as required.
  • Performing work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule under supervision.
  • Develop knowledge of job-specific federal state and local laws and regulations and assigned job specifications.
  • Collecting and analyzing data under the supervision of an experienced project manager.
  • Preparing progress reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Attending meetings and reporting on project tasks as needed.

Qualifications :

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • BA/BS in Environmental Science Environmental Management Geology Biological Science Chemistry or related field 2 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
  • Valid U.S Drivers License and as a condition of employment must pass AECOMs Motor Vehicle Records Review

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Masters Degree in Environmental Science Environmental Management Geology Biological Science Chemistry or related field
  • 3 years working in the environmental remediation industry
  • OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER certification
  • Field experience including subcontractor oversight
  • Understanding of project delivery requirements
  • Knowledge to conduct reports with creativity foresight collaborating with a multi-disciplinary team
  • Project management experience and developing project goals and deliver high quality technical excellence
  • Experience with application of techniques and procedures including mulit-media sampling (soil groundwater sediment air)
