The Director Facilities & Workplace Experience is responsible for strategic leadership operational oversight and continuous improvement of all facilities-related functions across a 70-acre campus supporting approximately 1200 associates. This role ensures the campus is safe sustainable efficient and aligned with the organizations mission and culture. The Director will lead a multidisciplinary team and manage vendor relationships capital projects maintenance security and environmental health and safety.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership & Planning
- Develop and execute a long-term facilities master plan aligned with organizational goals.
- Lead sustainability initiatives energy management and environmental stewardship.
- Collaborate with senior leadership on space planning renovations and capital improvements.
Operations & Maintenance
- Oversee daily operations of building systems including HVAC electrical plumbing and life safety.
- Ensure preventive and corrective maintenance programs are executed effectively.
- Maintain compliance with all local state and federal regulations.
Team & Vendor Management
- Lead mentor and develop a team of facilities professionals including maintenance custodial and grounds staff.
- Manage third-party service providers and contractors to ensure quality and cost-effectiveness.
- Develop and manage the facilities budget including forecasting and cost control.
Campus Safety & Security
- Partner with security teams to ensure a safe and secure environment for all associates and visitors.
- Oversee emergency preparedness response planning and business continuity efforts.
Customer Service & Communication
- Serve as the primary point of contact for facilities-related issues and requests.
- Foster a culture of service excellence and responsiveness.
- Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders leadership and external partners.
Qualifications :
- Bachelors degree in Facilities Management Engineering Business Administration or related field (Masters preferred).
- 10 years of progressive experience in facilities management with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Experience managing large multi-building campuses or institutional environments.
- Strong knowledge of building systems construction sustainability practices and regulatory compliance.
- Proven ability to lead teams manage budgets and drive operational excellence.
- Excellent communication negotiation and project management skills.
- Certifications such as CFM FMP or LEED AP are a plus.
Work Environment:
- This role requires regular on-site presence across the campus.
- May involve occasional evening or weekend work for emergencies or special projects.
- Physical ability to inspect facilities including walking climbing and lifting up to 25 lbs.
