About the Role
Our client a global venture builder that empowers founders to launch and scale transformative healthcare companies is seeking an ambitious product-minded Director of Engineering. The client is deeply dedicated to launching AI-native healthcare ventures.
In this senior technical leadership role you will be responsible for originating leading and delivering on critical 0-to-1 agentic development projects across the company. Youll act as a technologist-investor redefining how AI startups are built in healthcare by leveraging the clients dense repository of healthtech venture knowledge.
What Youll Do
- Redefine how AI startups are built in healthcare by designing and shipping LLM-based technologies to unlock internal healthtech venture knowledge.
- Architect the first AI-native healthcare venture builder leading projects in areas like healthcare domain agentic deep research and LLM-led knowledge graph construction.
- Create global patient impact by sourcing assessing inspiring and building alongside exceptional founders to launch enduring transformative health technology companies.
- Constantly raise the bar on the level of technical sophistication offered to their founders.
- Note: Interested and qualified candidates may have the opportunity to hire and manage additional engineers.
Requirements
- 8 years of experience primarily as an Individual Contributor (IC) in full-stack engineering. Exceptions can be made for extremely talented high-flyers.
- 6 years in a senior technical role at a major venture-backed startup. Bonus points for founding a startup (0-to-1 experience) or having an investment background.
- Expert in Python (including frameworks like asyncio FastAPI PyTorch) and at least one agentic framework (e.g. LangGraph OpenAI Agents SDK autogen).
- Proficient in the modern data stack (AWS Docker Kubernetes Flask Pydantic Pytorch etc.).
- Experience building stateful agentic workflows MCPs and LLM tool hooks (knowledge graphs/semantic search is a bonus).
- Code is in production at global organizations or used by thousands/millions of individuals.
- Technical degree (CS Math Physics) from a top university.
- Relentless startup-native technologist with a high tolerance for ambiguity and high speed of execution.
Benefits
- Salary: $180K - $220K (Based on quality and experience).
- Equity: To be discussed with the Hiring Manager (complex structure).
- Visa sponsorship is not available.
- Work Policy: Hybrid setup with mandatory work in the New York City office.
