A bit about the role
This is a fantastic opportunity for a proactive creative & enthusiastic Media Officer to join the team at Action for Children.
You will have responsibility for planning and delivering news and media relations activities across the UK to highlight the work of Action for Children and issues relating to vulnerable children young people and families.
Howyoull help to create brighter futures by:
Planning and delivering national regional and trade proactive and reactive media relations activity to highlight Action for Children campaigns services policy and fundraising initiatives.
Developing key relationships and engaging with national regional and trade media as appropriate including journalists producers and researchers.
Researching and writing media releases statements and articles as appropriate for media outlets.
Writing briefings and Q&As.
Participating in the news and media relations rota 365 days a year 24 hours a day including weekends and Bank Holidays.
Helping identify and manage case studies.
Providing administrative support to the media team.
Letstalk about you
Experience of working within a press PR or communications office handling proactive and reactive activities.
Experience of working with national broadcast print and online media.
Experience of briefing and preparing service users and colleagues to undertake media interviews.
Experience of working on projects/campaigns within multidisciplinary teams to achieve shared objectives.
Experience of planning and delivering creative media strategies.
Experience of responding to crisis/reputation management issues.
Ability to build rapport and establish develop and maintain positive stakeholder relationships with journalists staff volunteers vulnerable families young people and children.
Ability to influence other teams with different priorities to achieve shared objectives.
This role requires occasional travel within the UK
