The Role
Are you a motivated and multi-skilled content creator Do you have a passion for breaking news telling stories and sharing conversations on radio and digital platforms Join the ABC Wide Bay team located in Bundaberg to produce and/or present programs for ABC News. You will create a wide range of content across multiple platforms aiming to produce fresh and engaging stories that will attract audiences to seek it out regularly.
The Wide Bay and Fraser Coast regions are bursting with natural beauty and rich cultural heritage. With a vibrant coastal community and diverse agricultural industries it is one of the fastest growing regions in Australia and includes the major centres of Gympie Hervey Bay Maryborough and Bundaberg. It is also the gateway to the Great Barrier Reef sits on the doorstep to Kgari (Fraser Island) and takes in the small towns of the inland Burnett.
The Job
Under general direction of the Local Editor you will:
- Create content for multiple platforms to reach diverse audiences.
- Support production callers and guests.
- Assist with emergency coverage and stakeholder communication.
- Share and cross-promote ABC content.
- Produce stories reflecting Australias diversity.
- Engage with communities to tell relevant stories.
About You
Youll have:
- Relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience.
- Strong skills in creating original engaging audio and cross-platform content.
- Solid editorial judgment information analysis and decision-making in fast-paced news.
- Ability to create authentic content representing Australias cultural and Indigenous diversity.
- Ongoing passion for stories that reflect Australias diversity.
- Proven ability to build and maintain community contacts.
