Job Summary

We have a 1-Year remote Lead Data Specialist contract in Jackson MS. The anticipated official start date is October 13 2025.

Our client is seeking a Lead Data Specialist to support data cleansing migration and modeling efforts. The Lead Data Specialist will contribute to the design and implementation of modern data architecture and cloud-based analytics capabilities that will enable evidence-based decision-making in child welfare programs.

This is a full-time (40 hours/week) position on a Data Management Team (DMT) supporting the transition from a legacy case management system to a modern cloud-hosted Comprehensive Child Welfare Information System (CCWIS). The role involves working across data migration data modeling cloud data architecture and analytics enablement. The Lead Data Specialist will report directly to the Lead Data Architect and collaborate closely with technical and functional teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Participate in the identification and management of data-related risks issues and gaps.
  • Understand document and communicate both source and target-state data architectures for applications and cloud-based analytics platforms.
  • Design and implement data pipelines to support migration and ongoing data integration.
  • Contribute to the development of ETL architecture and technical work packages.
  • Support measurable improvements in data quality through cleansing and validation initiatives.
  • Develop subject matter expertise in business drivers terminology and child welfare practices to inform data design and governance.
  • Design and document data mapping specifications for migrating data from large legacy systems to the new CCWIS platform.
  • Create and maintain key data artifacts including entity relationship diagrams database schema documentation data dictionaries transformation lineages and business vocabulary/semantic models.
  • Plan and implement a Data Set Catalogue to support analytics and reporting needs.
  • Provision and manage metadata across the data stack to ensure data governance and traceability.
  • Identify and document business rules for complex metrics and support development of corresponding calculations.
  • Design and build semantic models with support for time-series analysis hierarchies and drill-down capabilities focused on child welfare metrics.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 8 years experience with Multidimensional Model Data Base Design ETL design and development.
  • 8 years experience with data quality and master data management integration.
  • 8 years experience with ERDs business vocabulary data dictionary and database schema mapping.
  • 8 years experience with data analytic implementation projects
  • 3 years of experience with cloud-based data stack tools and platforms
  • Excellent English-speaking skills written communication skills and knowledge transfer skills

Desirable Qualifications

  • Experience in Child Welfare data modeling case management and analytics
  • Experience with data quality and data exchange components of federal requirements for Child Welfare management systems
  • Prior CCWIS experience
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Ability to build a positive productive rapport with team members
