Job Summary

3 months contract with local authority

The Senior Youth Justice Officer plays a crucial role in managing cases of children and young people who are either in or at risk of entering the Youth Justice System. This position involves taking charge of assessing planning intervening supervising and enforcing disposals for vulnerable individuals in accordance with national youth justice social work and healthcare legislation standards and local policies. The role also includes acting as the lead professional when it benefits the child or young person and their family delivering interventions with a comprehensive family approach. Additionally the officer will spearhead specific areas of service development and delivery aiding the management team in enhancing service performance and development. Mentoring supporting and supervising staff and students as well as assisting with the induction of new Youth Justice System staff are also key responsibilities.






Responsibilities:






  • Manage cases of children and young people in or at risk of entering the Youth Justice System.
  • Assess plan intervene supervise and enforce disposals for vulnerable individuals.
  • Act as the lead professional when beneficial for the child/young person and family.
  • Deliver interventions using a whole family approach.
  • Lead specific areas of service development and delivery.
  • Support the management team in promoting service development and performance improvement.
  • Provide mentoring support guidance and supervision to staff and students.
  • Assist in the induction of new Youth Justice System staff.


Requirements

Requirements:





  • Strong understanding of national youth justice social work and healthcare legislation and standards.
  • Experience in case management within the Youth Justice System.
  • Ability to lead and deliver interventions with a family-centered approach.
  • Skills in service development and performance improvement.
  • Experience in mentoring and supervising staff and students.
  • Excellent communication and leadership abilities.

Requirements: Full-time availability for a year Ability to work 36 hours per week Resilient and able to thrive in challenging situations Attention to detail and creative problem-solving skills Comfortable with confrontation and able to deal with difficult situations Availability for out-of-hours meetings and lone working Daily use of a car and a full driving license
