The Malaghan Institute of Medical Research is based in Wellington New Zealand. The institute is New Zealands leading independent biomedical research institute with a focus on breakthrough discoveries in immunology and immunotherapy. We are a growing company and have around 140 passionate staff committed to finding cures for diseases using the bodys own immune system.

We are looking for an enthusiastic Research Fellow to join our Research Programme on germinal centre biology and vaccination led by Michelle Linterman: a Research Fellow you will lead a pre-clinical research project that aims to develop new vaccines that boost humoral immunity to support life-long health. You can utilize the world class in-house vaccine development resources at Malaghan which will expedite the process.

A strong background in immunology is crucial for this role as well as experience with spectral flow cytometry. Expertise in tissue imaging and in vitro and in vivo assays of immune cell functions are also highly desirable.

To succeed in this position you will be highly organised incredibly driven have excellent communication skills and most importantly be passionate about your research. Youll be working within a high-functioning and friendly group so commitment to a team-oriented workplace is an absolute must.

This position is suitable for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow however we do encourage Senior Research Fellows with at least 6 or more years of experience interested in the role to apply too. Responsibilities for Senior Research Fellows would be enhanced to reflect the additional skills and experience senior fellows can contribute to the role.

This is a full-time 40 hour per week fixed-term position for an initial three years.

  • Design execute and perform cutting-edge research within the framework of the project grant.
  • Prepare and submit manuscripts to refereed journals for publication.
  • Design and prepare research proposals for funding bodies and potential sponsors.
  • Supervise training and research activities for junior staff as necessary.
  • Accurate recording and reporting on the progress of your research.
  • Active involvement in and contribution to the team.
