Job Description
JOB SUMMARY
GD is looking for a plate maker to assist our Pre-Press depaertment in Bolingbrook IL on 2nd shift working Monday - Friday 4:00pm - 12:00am. This role is responsible for creating high-quality printing plates using PREPS software to support production needs. The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail technical aptitude and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Read and understand job tickets and schedules to produce printing plates and films.
- Monitor the production schedules and the maintenance of plates and films.
- Maintain accurate records for production.
- Perform quarterly audits of plates and films.
- Prepare files for impositions using PREPS software.
- Expose plates from Kodak Prinergy.
- Operate plate making equipment.
- Inspect plates for quality.
- Distribute the printing plates to staged area.
- Maintain the plating line including processor cleanings.
- File color masters.
- Perform other related job duties as needed and assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Ability to speak read and write English proficiently in order to ensure effective new hire training and ongoing communications about safety and quality issues.
- 5 years of previous printing/plate making experience is preferred.
- Attention to detail and ability to multitask is a must.
The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $28.00 per hour and is eligible for an annual bonus.
