Job Summary

The Trial Balance Bookkeeper is responsible for accurately recording maintaining and reconciling the companys financial transactions to ensure the trial balance is correct and ready for reporting. This role plays a critical part in supporting the finance team by preparing accurate financial information for month-end audits and management review.

Responsibilities:
  • Maintain and update the general ledger and ensure all transactions are accurately recorded.
  • Prepare trial balances on a monthly basis ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Reconcile accounts including bank debtors creditors and inter-company accounts.
  • Identify and correct discrepancies in financial records.
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly quarterly and annual financial reports.
  • Support audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations.
  • Collaborate with other departments to gather financial data and ensure proper accounting treatment.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting policies procedures and statutory requirements.
  • Maintain organised records for easy retrieval and review.
Key Skills:
  • Proficient in accounting software (e.g. Sage QuickBooks Pastel or similar) and MS Excel.
  • Strong attention to detail and numerical accuracy.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of a Diploma or Degree in Accounting Finance or related field.
  • At least 2 3 years of experience in bookkeeping or accounting preferably with trial balance preparation experience.
