Position Description and Job Responsibilities

The Business Analyst will collaborate with MDCPS functional leads and subject matter experts (SMEs) to understand document and enhance future-state business processes. This role involves both process documentation and process improvement responsibilities focusing on alignment with project objectives and ensuring smooth implementation.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with MDCPS leads and SMEs to understand document and index future-state business processes using standard notations (e.g. BPMN).

  • Develop Methods and Procedures documentation outlining detailed step-by-step workflows for specific business tasks.

  • Analyze future-state workflows for process improvement and optimization opportunities.

  • Work closely with MDCPS and vendor project teams (Development OCM Testing Training etc.) to ensure alignment with project objectives and timelines.

  • Provide expertise in process mapping modeling techniques and documentation best practices.

  • Conduct workshops and interviews to identify and resolve documentation or process gaps.

  • Support the implementation of process improvements through documentation and stakeholder guidance.

  • Manage project open items related to Business Processes or Methods & Procedures through closure.

  • Handle interim process designs for managing system downtimes or workarounds for production issues.

  • Maintain official Business Process and Methods & Procedures documentation as records for the project team.

Required Skills and Experience
  • Bachelors degree in Business Information Systems or related field.

  • Proven experience as a Business Process Modeler or similar role.

  • Proficiency with business process modeling tools (e.g. Microsoft Visio Lucidchart or BPM-specific software).

  • Strong understanding of Business Process Modeling Notation (BPMN).

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Strong communication and collaboration abilities.

  • Knowledge of process improvement methodologies (e.g. Six Sigma CMMI) preferred.

  • Experience in state government particularly within DHS or Child Welfare domains preferred.

  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to high-quality deliverables.

Preferred (Not Required) Skills
  • Experience working on child welfare projects.
