Provide integrated management and strategic and operational leadership in the planning organization direction and control of all activities for the international markets under its responsibility. This planning includes liaison activities with embassies various levels of international government schools trade shows fairs major events and any other initiative that may contribute to achieving targets and promoting the University of Ottawa as an institution of choice internationally.
Maximize and optimize the development of partnerships with international recruitment agencies (University representatives in international markets and agencies paid on a commission basis) and support management in priority files related to the recruitment of international students. Participate in planning and directing the orientation development achievement of objectives and effective management of the sector.
In this role your responsibilities will include:
Consultant:
Play a consulting role in the planning process and the development of internal and external business partnerships in order to maximize recruitment efforts and optimize the use of resources. Keep abreast of best practices in international student recruitment for all levels of study competitors strengths and weaknesses and developments in the recruitment field in international markets in order to continuously improve and evaluate recruitment strategy.
Influence the planning and implementation of all liaison recruitment and public relations activities under the responsibility of the various business partners within priority international markets in order to achieve the objectives of the annual plan and position the markets under his/her responsibility for optimal results.
Play a key role in identifying business needs trends and opportunities to achieve the Universitys revenue objectives for all geographic regions outside Canada. Propose new strategic initiatives to help achieve the sectors objectives and raise the profile of the University.
Student recruitment management :
Lead various analyses of complex historical and forecasted enrollments; ensure consistency relevance and quality of information and popularize all in summary and executive format for various stakeholders.
Manage the development implementation and evaluation of recruitment strategies by identifying evaluating establishing developing and maintaining various business solutions particularly commission-based international recruitment agencies.
Identify prioritize and evaluate new requests for the addition of business partners carry out performance analyses of the various business partners develop with them the business processes required for the control and smooth running of operations prepare statistical reports and evaluate the efficiency of the activities deployed in order to propose adjustments that will increase the effectiveness of existing and future interventions and partnerships.
Lead the training of international partners and commissioning agencies so that they are able to represent us effectively to potential candidates and their families. This training covers not only admission requirements but also the strengths of the University of Ottawa and its place in the Canadian market.
Organize develop and coordinate training for members of the university community in all matters relating to the markets under his/her responsibility to ensure that internal partners are in a position to support the Universitys recruitment strategy.
Oversee and participate in recruitment and liaison activities proposed by various business partners to optimize the University of Ottawas presence in priority international markets. Be present in different markets and actively involved in liaison and major activities to increase market coverage as required.
Define plan and coordinate the scope of projects to be carried out draw up design plans justify the choice of components carry out feasibility studies carry out inspections during various stages of the project and ensure effective communication between partners.
Contribute to budget planning preparation and control in conjunction with business partners on an ad hoc and regular basis and prepare an annual budget forecast. Maximize benefits and ensure compliance with allocated envelopes.
Ensure the accuracy of commission invoices submitted by business partners working closely with the Research Evaluation and Performance team and the Student Affairs Finance team among others.
Communication partnerships and liaison:
Ensure in collaboration with the sectors communications team that the communication mediums used and the messages conveyed meet the needs of business partners (internal and external) in achieving our recruitment objectives.
Ensure close collaboration and good relations with faculties and departments and other internal partners to improve the effectiveness of recruitment activities. Enhance relationships with external strategic partners to meet their needs.
What you will bring:
University degree in marketing international management management education communications international development or other related discipline.
At least 5 years knowledge and experience in international marketing recruitment public relations and/or communications
Knowledge of a third language is an asset (Arabic).
At least 5 years experience in administrative and procurement management (administration human resources marketing finance).
A graduate degree in management or education will be considered an asset.
Demonstrated leadership in project management.
Recent experience in building and maintaining partnerships and strategic relationships.
Demonstrated ability to interact and communicate positively with a diverse clientele.
Strong leadership skills to provide vision to market partners and members of the university community.
Ability to address complex situations and find effective solutions.
Experience in computerized systems such as word processing spreadsheets databases presentation software customer management systems.
Knowledge of international secondary and post-secondary education systems. Excellent understanding of the needs of future international students aged 16 to 22 and of the environment served.
Ability to work independently under pressure to organize work to strict deadlines and to manage priorities when working on several projects simultaneously.
Fluency in spoken and written French and English.
Demonstrated experience in making presentations to a variety of audiences.
The position requires international travel as well as evening and weekend work depending on the required recruitment events.

If this is a front-line position with responsibilities to interact with students selected candidates must be rated at the Low Advanced proficiency level or higher for both oral comprehension and reading comprehension in their second official language. The rating is determined by a proficiency test designed by the Official Languages and Bilingualism Institute.
Prior to May 1 2022 the University required all students faculty staff and visitors (including contractors) to be fully vaccinated against Covid-19 as defined in Policy 129 Covid-19 Vaccination. This policy was suspended effective May 1 2022 but may be reinstated at any point in the future depending on public health guidelines and the recommendations of experts.
