About us:

The Avionics Delivery & Data Architecture team supports spacecraft programmes. This includes being involved in managing data & software solutions in the context of system level design development and verification for new & on-going European Space Agency (ESA) programmes such as ExoMars Rover Vigil Truths & Biomass and commercial telecommunication programmes such as OneSAT. The team is not only integrated into the programme community with visibility of the programme phases but has involvement in phases of critical software solutions used across programmes.

Our team is a mixture of technical experts who are all passionate about finding technical solutions to support the space programmes. We are an ideal mix of people who can help you develop technically and personally in the role.

What you will be doing:

You will be working on cutting edge space programmes for customers such as the European Space Agency within the Avionics Delivery & Data Architecture group at Stevenage. This technical role will involve working in the area of development test and delivery of cutting-edge data processes & software solutions for spacecraft engineering data management.

As an Avionics Data Architecture Degree Apprentice you will gain experience across development test delivery and use of data processes and software solutions within spacecraft development & test across a number of space programmes.

The tasks will be varied and require you to develop & use different skills (technical project management communication etc.) in order to complete them successfully.

You will support & eventually initiate activities within the team gaining experience end to end; from developing testing & managing engineering data processes analyzing use cases of spacecraft engineering domains & support the proto-typing of data and software solutions to final test delivery install & post-delivery support.

Outward Bound:

During the 1st year of the apprenticeship you will attend a week of Team Building Activities and Exercises at one of the Outward-Bound UK Sites. Split up into teams consisting of Apprentices of all levels from various Airbus Defence and Space sites you will work as a team to complete daily activities such as Rock Climbing Hiking Abseiling Canoeing and more.

Requirements:

In order to be eligible to this apprenticeship you must have a minimum of:

  • Minimum of 2 A levels at grade C or above;

AND

  • 5 GCSEs graded C/4 or above which must include English Language and Maths or a Level 2 Function Skills.

Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate the following:

  • The ability to listen understand and communicate information;

  • The desire to work in a technical team environment with an interest in software engineering;

  • A strong interest in developing yourself especially in the context of software engineering;

  • Interest in finding creative solutions to complex problems;

  • A passion for coding & engineering;

  • You have been studying for a relevant software engineering or related technical degree;

GRADES: If you are on predicted grades your offer will be conditional to achieving the positions requirements before the apprenticeship start date.

LEVY FUNDING: Successful candidates must be eligible for the levy funding.
