Heavy Equipment Operator

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous experience in a lumber mill or industrial setting preferred.
• Behavior consistent with the Safety Vision and Policy and our People Principles.
• Ability to meet all Team Norms and Standards with a clear focus on active participation in the Safety Program.
• Ability to perform the essential job functions of the position which includes climbing stairs navigating catwalks lifting up to 50 pounds stooping and bending.
• Self-motivated with Demonstrated Leadership capabilities.
• Strong aptitude for and experience in Log Handling and or heavy equipment operations.
• Strong interpersonal listening and communication skills (verbal & written).
• Ability to prioritize and learn quickly.
• Preference will be given to current lumber operators with applicable skills.

We currently have a full-time opportunity at Grande Prairie Lumber as Heavy Equipment Operator with our Sawmill Blue Log Yard Team. As a member of this team you will be responsible for safely and efficiently delivering Cutto-Length logs to the Sawmill and unloading log trucks utilizing mobile equipment. This position will report to the Log Yard Team Leader.

Shift schedule for this opportunity rotating weekdays (2 weeks days/2 weeks nights).

Key Responsibilities:

• Safely operate and perform PMs on log handling equipment consisting of mobile equipment.
• Operating shift will be determined based on business needs.
• Complete regular area maintenance (gravel & dirt work snow removal de-barker deck & area cleaning etc.)
