Job Description

The successful candidate will collaborate closely with scientists within the Pathobiology function internal research & biomarker teams and external partners to identify and validate novel drug targets and elucidate mechanisms of action. A strong background in biology or a related field along with hands-on experience in developing and optimizing IHC ISH IF and tissue based multiplex assays is essential. Familiarity with emerging tissue-based technologies and analytical tools is highly desirable. Experience working with CROs to outsource assays is also desirable.

We are looking for a self-driven team player with excellent organizational and communication skills capable of managing multiple priorities in a dynamic research environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Partner with investigators across Gilead to understand project goals and implement tissue-based assays.

• Design and execute experiments using various tissue based technologies (for instance RNA- protein multiplexing IHC/ IF mIF) and platforms (e.g. Ultivue Akoya Canopy) and advanced imaging systems (e.g. Zeiss Axioscan Z1 Akoya Polaris).

• Lead the evaluation and integration of emerging tissue technologies through internal efforts and collaborations with CROs.

• Manage outsourced studies with external vendors and CROs as needed.

Qualifications & Skills:

• PhD in a relevant field with 2 years of experience.

• Proven expertise in multiplex IF assay development and a strong interest in solving complex scientific problems.

• Experience with automated stainer platforms and high-resolution imaging systems.

• This position will work closely with scientists data scientists and project leads and success in this role requires strong communication collaboration and interpersonal skills.

• Familiarity with emerging tissue-based technologies is a plus.

• Experience working with CROs to outsource assays is desirable.

• Familiarity with quantification-based metrics and tools for analysis and data analysis tools (e.g. Excel Spotfire Prism) is preferred.
