With the team focused on the implementation of our ambitious adopted Local Plan this role will be key to unlocking delivery of new homes workspace and infrastructure across the right candidate will be interested in strategicplanning data and urban will be responsible for the collection and analysis of data relating to development in the borough. Youwill use your analytical research communication and presentation skills to monitor the performance of the Local Plan policies assess their effectivenessand communicate the successes and opportunities associated with the delivery of the addition to your monitoring role you will also contribute to other policy work of the team.

As part of the Place and Design team the role holder will carry out planning information andmonitoring tasks involving the collection analysis and monitoring of spatial planning data including housing commencements and completions housing land availability industrial commercial office retail vacant premises Suitable Alternative Natural Greenspaces (SANGs) and other data sets required to monitor spatial planning objectives.

The role holder will prepare the Authoring Monitoring Report and contribute to the preparation implementation and review of the Councils Local Plan and other policy documents particularly through the preparation and ongoing review of an up-to-date housing trajectory that ensures the borough has an ongoing deliverable five year land supply.

They will also manage the Freedom of Information requests that come to the Place and Design team.

Qualifications and Requirements:

A degree level qualification (or equivalent) in planning or closely related subject or a relevant professional qualification.
Experience knowledge and understanding of National Planning Policy Framework and the process of preparing a Local Plan preparation of supplementary planning documents review and in particular monitoring of Local Plan policy.
Experience of working in a Planning Department including spatial planning data and information monitoring or related experience from working in another part of the development industry.
Good understanding of how services are provided in a local government context and the issues facing local government.
Good political awareness and experience of community engagement.
Good understanding of the importance of customer satisfaction with a strong customer focused attitude.
User of database systems and experience of recording analysing and reporting complex data and information.
User of Microsoft Office especially Word and Excel and other relevant software enabling the review and maintenance of the Local Plan process. Experience or knowledge of using GIS/mapping systems.
Experience of providing information and advice to key decision makers such as elected members and service directors.
Ability to communicate effectively using a wide variety of media and methodologies including written oral and visual means of communication.
Self-motivated enthusiastic and able to work with minimal supervision.
Accustomed to managing conflicting deadlines and a demanding workload.
