Job Description

Overview

Avon books a division of HarperCollins Publishers is seeking an Editorial Intern. Avon is part of the Morrow Group which is comprised of several imprints flagship imprint William Morrow as well as Dey Street Books Mariner Books Harvest Harper Voyager and Avon Books which publish a range of titles across most publishing categories from bestselling mysteries and romances to prize-winning literary fiction cookbooks politics and pop culture this role you will be supporting the Romance Team at Avon.

Responsibilities

  • Learns about the editorial process.
  • Reads and evaluates proposals and manuscripts under consideration writes readers reports researches author track records and comparison titles and drafts rejection letters.
  • Researches trends in editorial content marketing approaches and publishing trends as needed.
  • Assists with writing jacket copy.
  • Assists with author/agent communications.
  • Prepares manuscripts for production.
  • Supports editors through administrative tasks such as mailings requesting marketing materials and other in-office duties.

Qualifications

  • Candidates who are available to work in a full-time capacity in 2026 or 2027 are eligible for this internship; open to rising seniors recent graduates masters students or entry level candidates with up to two years of work experience.
  • Candidates must be available to work 28 hours per week Monday through Thursday from June 8 to August 13 2026 at our New York City office. This internship is compensated at a rate of $18 per hour.
  • Applicants mustbe authorized towork in the United States.

  • Ideal candidates are either currently enrolled in or have recently graduated from an undergraduate or masters program.
  • A passion for books is highly valued!
  • Eager to learn about the publishing business
  • Interest in Romance Novels a plus
