Job Description
Advanced Energy United seeks an energetic Communicationsintern to support itsmedia and communicationsactivities.The intern will gain hands-on experiencein media relations helpingcreate and write pitches to send to reporters anddraftingcontent for publication on social media and Uniteds blog.
TheCommunicationsintern willalsoassistwith drafting press releases and statements.Additionallythe Communicationsinternwill helpwith research such asidentifyingreporters who cover energy and legislative issuesacrossstatesinUnitedsportfolio of work.Theintern will have the opportunity to work withAdvanced Energy Unitedseducation and advocacyteamstohelp the Communications staff executecommunications strategies in support of Advanced Energy Uniteds policy andadvocacygoals.
Key Responsibilities
Interns willworkahybridscheduleand thereforemustbelocated inthe DC MD VA area for the summer a commutable distance to our DC office.A final project will be due from each intern and presented to the organizationat the end of the program.
Required Skills
- Microsoft Office Suite (Excel Word PowerPoint etc.)
- Interest in media relations and/or communications
- Strong communicationand writing skills
Preferred Skills
- Prior experience developingdigitalcontent
- Familiarity with Muck Rack or other contact management systems
- An interest in clean energy
Detail-oriented; intellectually curious;strong writtenandoral communication skills; andinterest in advanced energy and/or public policy career
