2026 Spring Internship Publicity, Children's Books (NYC)

HarperCollins Childrens Books is seeking a Publicity Intern to join our team this this role you will work closely with a group of highly experienced publicists as they create and execute campaigns for books across genres and age groups including picture books middle grade and young adult.

The Publicity Department plays a unique role in the life cycle of the book working closely across internal departments as the book takes shape (editorial sales marketing etc.) then interfacing with external partners responsible for getting the book into the hands of consumers (media outlets influencers bookstores). Throughout the process Publicity works closely with the author to craft a compelling and successful launch campaign.

• Perform general administrative duties including processing mailings to media and booksellers and managing internal databases
• Media research across platforms: MuckRack media outlets social media and more
• Pull book assets from internal databases
• Manage and create promotional materials such as press kits media pitches and thematic round-ups
• Support publicists with select media outreach
• Maintain accurate records of all publicity efforts data entry of media and event bookings
• Help organize and manage author media and tour schedules
• Assist with administrative tasks such as scheduling meetings
• Attend internal meetings and select off-site author events

• Candidates who are available to work in a full-time capacity in 2026 or 2027 are eligible for this internship; open to rising seniors recent graduates masters students or entry level candidates with up to two years of work experience.
• Candidates must be available to work 21 hours per weekacross 3 or 4 days from February 9 to April 17 2026 at the location specified in the job internship is compensated at a rate of $18 per hour.

• Must have a desire to learn grow and be successful
• Applicants must possess strong organizational and communication skills be detail-oriented exhibit good judgement exercise discretion and can juggle multiple tasks and prioritize
• A strong knowledge of current trends in the industry is a plus
• The ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a fast-paced team environment is essential
