Exciting opportunity to join BMO as a Director on the U.S. Power Utilities and Infrastructure (PU&I) Corporate Banking team a position responsible for joint coverage of sector clients with our Investment Banking partners.

BMOs Corporate Bank is responsible for client coverage / relationship management; the origination structuring and execution of lending transactions; collaboration with core Corporate Banking partners to drive product cross-sell; and partnership with Investment Banking to provide current and prospective clients with creative financing solutions across Debt / Equity Capital Markets and Leverage Finance.

Role responsibilities include:

  • Coverage of existing and prospective PU&I lending clients including corporate clients (utilities IPPs etc.) and infrastructure fund clients (including both the funds and their portfolio companies)
  • Partnering with senior Investment Banking and Capital Markets professionals to generate comprehensive advisory and product solutions across loan debt and equity capital markets
  • Working directly with Corporate and Commercial Banking product teams to strategically drive cross-sell (Treasury Products Trade Finance Interest Rate and Commodities Hedging Equipment Finance etc.)
  • Loan transaction origination structuring and execution (Corporate / Project Financing Acquisition Financing Bridge Financing)
  • Leadership and oversight of deal teams that prepare credit documentation for internal and external stakeholders (i.e. applications memoranda presentations)
  • Deep understanding of transaction risk factors (credit market operational legal / compliance) and effective communication of those factors to senior management and other key internal stakeholders
  • Supporting the execution of strategic firm initiatives in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders including account planning and sector strategy
  • Building effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to work independently and regularly handle non-routine situations

Qualifications:

  • 7 years of PU&I coverage experience in Corporate and / or Investment Banking with demonstrated excellence at the Vice President level and above
  • Proven ability to successfully manage and serve clients evidenced by breadth of relationship network transaction closings and origination of new business
  • Existing network of Infrastructure Fund clients particularly capital markets professionals is a major plus
  • Experience originating and structuring loans including revolving term and bridge credit facilities; and in particular more complex structures (project finance hybrid corporate-project finance multi-tranche and multi-creditor class etc.)
  • Competency in core cross-sell products including treasury products trade finance equipment finance derivatives and capital markets products (fixed income equity leveraged finance)
  • Ability to travel frequently across North America
  • Deal execution and project management skills ability to manage multiple live transactions / projects / initiatives at a time
  • Strong skills in quantitative analytics financial modeling and credit analysis
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to create and deliver professional presentations
  • Highly collaborative
  • Undergraduate degree with high academic achievement MBA a plus

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location skills experience education and qualifications for the role and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Groups expected target for the first year in this position.
