Job Description

Summary:

We are seeking a Deputy Team Manager for the Community Review Team within the Older Persons and Physical Disability Service at Southwark Council. This role involves collaborating with Team Managers to deliver a safe strength-based service that enhances independence and ensures comprehensive person-centered assessments reviews and interventions. The Deputy Team Manager will supervise Social Workers and Assistant Practitioners support court work when necessary and safeguard residents enabling them to make informed choices about their accommodation care and support needs. The position demands prior experience due to its fast-paced nature and broad responsibilities.

Responsibilities:

  • Allocate and sign off work promptly and analytically to manage risk effectively.
  • Manage the review inbox and prioritise cases for allocation.
  • Support data quality and promote a strengths-based approach.
  • Manage risk and act as SAM requiring a strong understanding of safeguarding principles.
  • Collaborate with other Deputy Team Managers to ensure appropriate case transfers.
  • Ensure service provision is cost-effective and meets the complex needs of service users and their carers.
  • Deputise for the Team Manager as needed.


Requirements


  • Strong understanding of safeguarding mental capacity and continuing health care.
  • Proven experience in partnership working across agencies.
  • Ability to support care home MDTs and Flexi Care schemes.



Required Skills:

Bachelors or Masters degree in Social Work or a related field Relevant social work experience Registration with the appropriate regulatory body Knowledge of relevant legislation and procedures Strong communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team Understanding of child protection issues and risk assessment Willingness to challenge discrimination and inequality Ability to work within established protocols and negotiate expectations/roles in
