In this role you will be instrumental in the Battery Pack Institute using your extensive skills to process and analyze large volumes of data. You will collaborate with diverse teams including Engineering Quality Control and VINFAST suppliers to create cutting-edge solutions that will drive the future of transportation.
- DVP&R Planning & Execution:
- Prepare and execute comprehensive DVP&R for lithium-ion battery packs across all VinFast projects.
- Facilitate risk-based validation plans incorporating DFMEA outcomes and regulatory needs.
- Test Development & Oversight:
- Review and validate test procedures (thermal electrical mechanical environmental) to meet project and regulatory requirements.
- Evaluate battery safety via in-house and third-party testing (e.g. thermal runaway overcharge impact/crush tests).
- Design and supervise custom test setups and fixtures for specialized validation.
- Regulatory & Compliance Management:
- Ensure testing and validation activities comply with standards such as UN38.3 ECE R100.03 ISO 19453-6 ISO 12405 and VFDS.
- Coordinate homologation activities and type approval testing with global certification bodies.
- Cross-functional Leadership & Collaboration:
- Lead cross-functional meetings to track validation project milestones and resolve execution bottlenecks.
- Collaborate with Design ESP external labs and suppliers to ensure seamless testing operations.
- Conduct DFMEA sessions and facilitate resolution of DVPR-related failures.
- Data & Documentation Management:
- Manage and release validation-related documentation (DVPRs SORs Test Reports DCRs) via Teamcenter.
- Review and approve all supplier/in-house test procedures and reports.
- Support Jira-based tracking for testing workflows and documentation.
- Strategic & Operational Oversight:
- Develop and manage validation budgets ensuring cost-effective resource and lab utilization.
- Contribute to internal test standards development and manage their release in Teamcenter.
- Conduct warranty simulations for battery degradation over the vehicle lifetime.
Create global temperature profiles and drive cycles tailored for different vehicle use cases (e.g. private taxi)
Requirements
- Bachelors degree (or higher) in Electrical Engineering Electronics Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering.
- Minimum 5 years (for T5: 5 years T6: < 5 years) of hands-on experience in battery system validation compliance engineering or equivalent roles.
- Strong working knowledge of:
- DVP&R planning and execution
- DFMEA DOE and SOR creation
- HV battery systems and BMS
- Testing and validation processes (thermal mechanical electrical)
- Global regulatory standards and homologation procedures
- Drive cycle development and environmental testing
- Lab setup and management
- Proficiency with tools and platforms:
o Teamcenter (Release Management)
o Jira
- Microsoft Office test data analysis tools
- Strong leadership and cross-functional collaboration skills
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities
- Detail-oriented with strong documentation and communication skills
- Capable of managing multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment
