As a Site-Based Construction Project Engineer you will be a key contributor to the successful delivery of mechanical and electrical packages on our construction projects. On a day to day functional basis you will report to the Project Manager and support the coordination planning and execution of on-site activities ensuring work is delivered safely on time and to the highest quality standards. You will act as the technical interface between design procurement and site teams managing engineering documentation supporting subcontractor activities and resolving technical queries that arise during installation and commissioning phases. This role is hands-on with a strong presence on site requiring active engagement with tradespeople foremen supervisors and other contractors.
You will be instrumental in ensuring compliance with design specifications health and safety regulations and client requirements while contributing to the continuous improvement of installation practices. Your work will have a direct impact on project delivery budget adherence and client satisfaction.
Key Objectives:
- Ensure mechanical and electrical systems are installed in accordance with design drawings project specifications and programme schedules. You must update schedule progress to the planners and provide whatever other related information is required by them to produce accurate project indicators.
- Oversee the preparation review and tracking of engineering documents including RFIs method statements technical submittals and as-built records.
- Provide technical guidance and resolve site issues by liaising with design consultants suppliers and site foremen to facilitate efficient problem-solving.
- Support site safety inspections and contribute to quality control processes to ensure work meets legal and contractual standards.
- Assist in planning and executing pre-commissioning and commissioning tasks ensuring systems are tested signed off and handed over in line with client expectations.
- You will ensure that all Lean initiatives are being used on site. This includes a commitment to driving ever increasing levels of productivity and quality.
- Drive continuous improvement across all aspects of site activities
Qualifications :
- Degree or diploma in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (or Building Services) or a relevant construction engineering discipline.
- Understanding of mechanical and/or electrical systems in a construction environment (e.g. HVAC LV/MV distribution BMS plumbing fire systems).
- Proven capability to identify and resolve site-based technical and coordination issues effectively.
- Ability to communicate clearly with tradespeople engineers clients and third parties both verbally and through technical documentation.
- Competence in Microsoft Office Suite AutoCAD BIM viewers and project collaboration tools (e.g. Procore BIM 360).
- Knowledge of site safety practices and regulations ideally with a valid Safe Pass or equivalent.
