Tallaght University Hospital (TUH) is an exciting and dynamic place to work. The team at the Hospital are in the midst of implementing a new hospitalstrategythat has already delivered on the opening of a new renal unit day surgery centre step down facility in the community and the a new ICU extension. It is an exciting time to join the TUH team and one of Irelands main teaching hospitals with so many plans to enhance patient care. TUH is one of Irelands largest acute teaching hospitals with adult psychiatric and age-related healthcare being provided on one site. The Hospital has 456 inpatient adult beds 74 onsite day beds for our Dialysis Oncology Infusion Haematology Cardiology Bone & Joint and minor surgery services. The Hospital also has a Day Surgery Centre located near the Hospital which has four theatres and 25 bays for elective surgery. There are an additional 61 offsite beds under its governance. The Hospital has over 3500 people on staff and more than 50 different nationalities represented. The Hospital is a provider of local regional and national specialties. It is also a national Urology Centre the second largest provider of dialysis services in the country a regional Orthopaedic Trauma Centre and a designated trauma unit.
TUH is one of the two main academic teaching hospitals of Trinity College Dublin - specialising in the training and professional development of staff in areas such as medicine nursing health and social care professionals emergency medicine and surgery amongst many others. Purpose of the Role
The Dementia Clinical Research Coordinator will lead and coordinate the delivery of translational research and diagnostic innovation projects within the Cognitive Clinical Trials and Innovation Unit at the Tallaght Institute for Memory and Cognition (TIMC).
The post holder will play a key role in implementing research and innovation initiatives that aim to improve diagnostic accuracy streamline clinical workflows and enhance data-driven understanding of Dementia. They will work closely with the Principal Investigators research nurses laboratory teams and multidisciplinary clinicians to ensure projects are delivered efficiently on time and in compliance with institutional and regulatory standards.
The role combines scientific understanding with strong project management and leadership skills. The post holder will mentor junior staff support governance and quality assurance processes and facilitate the integration of translational research outputs into clinical practice.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
Project and Research Management
- Coordinate a portfolio of translational research and diagnostic innovation projects from start-up through to completion.
- Support the Principal Investigator in study design planning ethics submissions and regulatory documentation.
- Develop and implement project timelines milestones and standard operating procedures.
- Liaise with internal and external collaborators sponsors and vendors to ensure successful project delivery.
- Monitor study progress track risks and deliverables and provide regular progress reports.
- Oversee and coordinate the collection processing and management of biological and clinical data in accordance with Good Clinical Practice (GCP).
- Ensure all necessary materials documentation and quality control measures are in place for project delivery.
- Lead the development implementation and maintenance of secure research registries and databases.
- Oversee data entry cleaning and quality assurance to ensure integrity and completeness of research datasets.
- Support the development of metrics and dashboards to evaluate project impact and service improvement.
- Collaborate with IT and clinical teams to optimise database functionality and ensure compliance with data protection standards.
- Ensure compliance with all ethical regulatory and institutional frameworks including ICH-GCP GDPR HRR and HSE research governance policies.
- Prepare and maintain high-quality study documentation version control and audit readiness.
- Support and respond to sponsor audits internal reviews or external inspections as required.
- Assist with the preparation and monitoring of project budgets in collaboration with the Finance Department.
- Track expenditure oversee procurement and manage reimbursement processes for study-related costs.
- Provide supervision mentorship and guidance to research and support staff within the research and innovation team.
- Promote effective cross-disciplinary communication among neurology geriatrics laboratory and administrative teams.
- Contribute to multidisciplinary meetings and institutional forums to support alignment of research and clinical priorities.
General Accountability
- Demonstrate initiative strong problem-solving skills and the ability to prioritise competing demands.
- Maintain a high standard of professionalism confidentiality and integrity in all aspects of work.
- Work both independently and collaboratively ensuring clear communication and coordination across departments.

Qualifications & Experience required
Must have:
- BSc in clinical or life science related subject or equivalent third level qualification
- Have satisfactory relevant experience which encompasses demonstrable equivalent skills
- 4 years relevant experience working in Clinical Research
- Previous experience in the coordination and set up of clinical trials and research studies
- Practical experience of using clinical trials and studies databases
- Prior experience of study costing and budget development
- Fluent command and understanding of the English language to include spoken and written word
- Relevant experience working in dementia research
- Project Management training/experience for a minimum of 1 year
- Prior Experience in Regulatory/Sponsor inspection and audit
- Prior experience in the completion and submission of feasibility questionnaires relating to Dementia Clinical Trials and studies
Reward & Recognition
- Remuneration is in accordance with the Department of Health Consolidated Salary Scales grade code 0574.
- The appointment is whole time temporary and pensionable.
- The annual leave entitlement is 30 working days per year. The leave year runs from 1st April to the 31st of March each year
- Normal working hours are 35 worked over 5 days. Your contracted hours of work are liable to change between the hours of 8 am to 8 pm over 7 days to meet the requirements for extended day services in accordance with the terms of the Framework Agreement
