LightArt is seeking a talented mechanical/industrial designer to join our team. The prospective applicant will be responsible for designing custom light fixtures and architectural details based on loose initial concepts and sketches provided by a project manager. They will also be responsible for creating proper documentation for designs in the form of bills of materials and dimension drawings using SolidWorks

Responsibilities:

Schedule cut parts through autocad.
Ensure quantities are accurate prior to sending to the shop floor.
Ensure correct parts have been selected.
Ensure nesting for material is accurate.
Quote material needs.
Ability to transfer material
Learn how to build all fixtures on the shop floor.
Learn how to build out drawings for all products.
Work with sales to deliver drawings on time to the customer.
Help to design custom products for customers.
Learn lighting with LEDs controls and drivers.
Troubleshoot production issues.

Qualifications:

B.S. in mechanical engineering Industrial design or related field (experience may be substituted for degree)
2 years experience using SolidWorks
2 years of experience in a design and manufacturing environment
Experience designing weldments and sheet metal components in SolidWorks
Experience with large assemblies and drawing sets
Experience with creating surface models
Proficiency with AutoCAD
Basic understanding of ANSI/ASME drawing standards
Proficiency in Microsoft Word Excel and Adobe Acrobat
Basic knowledge of hardware and common materials
Knowledge of common manufacturing processes (CNC laser router 5-axis router water jet welding riveting adhesives heat forming blow molding etc.)

Desirable Qualities (not required):

CNC programming experience in MasterCam for SolidWorks or EnRoute
Experience using Solid Works PDM
Experience with FEA
Project management experience
Leadership experience
Experience with other CAD software (Rhino SketchUp Revit etc.)
3D Printing Experience
Knowledge of UL and CSA standards
Experience with lighting and electrical design
