This position is full-time and is scheduled to work 40 hours per week with occasional overtime on weekdays and/or weekends. The Machinist Apprentice will through online training classroom activities assigned projects and on-the-job training learn the skills to setup and operate machine tools utilized to produce components for STERIS Montgomery product assembly. This training will include how to read and interpret blueprints set up and operate machines and inspect parts to ensure the parts conform to drawings specifications. The Apprentice will be required to be versatile within a production environment and successfully complete the assigned learning and tasks within the prescribed timeframes.
Hours: 7:00am-3:00pm Monday-Friday
Become proficient in shop math and blueprint reading. Learn and demonstrate the ability to setup and safely operate designated production machines to produce parts that meet blueprint specifications.
Ability to perform repetitive machine operations.
Become proficient in verifying conformance of workpiece to blueprint specifications by selecting and using appropriate precision measuring equipment.
Learn to interpret work orders blueprints (GD & T) material specifications and work instructions.
Able to stand for a minimum of 8 hours.
Able to lift up to 40 lbs.
Successful completion of each segment of the apprenticeship program within the prescribed timeframe.
Follow all work rules as outlined in the STERIS Montgomery Employee Handbook
Follow all safety rules.
Remain safety-conscious at all times wearing all the required safety equipment for your work area.
Conform to all safety rules and policies stated in the employee handbook.
Keep and maintain a clean and orderly work environment while instituting the 5S principles of Lean Manufacturing.
Immediately report all safety related issues irregularities and discrepancies relating to job functions and assignments.
Conform to all policies procedures and rules of conduct
Ability and willingness to work overtime as required.
Ability and willingness to work Second and/or Third Shift upon completion of the apprenticeship
Technical training preferred
Ability to perform basic math: addition subtraction multiplication and division of fractions and decimals; basic algebra geometry
Basic computer knowledge (i.e. Microsoft Word Excel)
Ability to read and interpret written instructions
Ability to read and write at a 12thgrade level.
Ability tocommunicateeffectively.
Pay range for this opportunity is$17.47-$22.61.This position is eligible forbonus participation.
Minimum pay rates offered will comply with county/city minimums if higher than range listed. Pay rates are based on a number of factors including but not limited to local labor market costs years of relevant experience education professional certifications foreign language fluency etc.
