The Law Society of NSW is currently looking for a permanent part time Paralegal (3 days per week) to join our Licensing and Registry team in the heart of Sydneys CBD (Martin Place).
About the team
Licensing and Registry manages the Law Societys licensing functions associated with granting renewing varying and maintaining Australian practising certificates and registration certificates in accordance with thelegal profession legislationand also for the Law Society of New South Wales Professional Standards Scheme.
About the role
You will be responsible for assisting the Director Licensing and Registry and the Licensing Registry and Scheme teams in carrying out the Law Societys licensing and registration functions pursuant to the Legal Profession Uniform Law (NSW). You will provide legal administrative and operational support in a timely efficient and professional manner.
What youll be doing
- Working closely with the Director and a team of solicitors in respect to the delivery of all functions associated with the granting variation renewal and compliance with practising certificate (PC) and Australian registration certificate (ARC) conditions in accordance with legal profession legislation.
- Reviewing and assessing standard licensing and membership applications.
- Assisting with providing timely responses to requests for information from the profession the public other regulatory bodies and various internal departments within the Law Society.
- Supporting the Scheme Department with the administration of the Professional Standards Scheme.
- Assisting with drafting documents including memorandums advices and written correspondence.
- Supporting the management of web based content pertaining to licensing and regulatory issues including forms for use by the profession.
- Providing support to the Registry Department and Scheme Department as directed by the Director.
- Assisting with developing digital transformation and streamlining processes.
About you
- Studying a law degree or a graduate of a law degree.
- Proven strong administrative skills gained in a previous paralegal role and/or demonstrated ability to prepare detailed legal draft memorandums and correspondence.
- High level computing skills in word processing and familiarity with various software packages including Microsoft teams Outlook and Sharepoint.
- Ability to work within short timeframes and in a fast-paced environment.

- Outstanding attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good time management prioritisation and organisational skills.
