Job Summary
Nature of Work
The fundamental reason thisclassification exists is to supervise work crews involved in collection andtransportation of solid waste and recyclables street sweeping and littercontrol. The essential functions are: supervisesthe work of Refuse Collection Supervisors and their work crews; manages andreviews the work of assigned supervisors and work crews; and communicates withcustomers regarding customer complaints and/or concerns services availabledepartment policies and procedures and City ordinances and laws. Refuse Collection Managers provide direct andindirect supervision to employees of various classifications including RefuseCollection Supervisors Equipment Operators Sanitation Truck Drivers andService Maintenance Workers. RefuseCollection Managers operate with an extensive degree of independence and reportto the Assistant Department Head and Department Head.
Minimum Qualifications
One year of experience as a workcrew foreman/supervisor in refuse collection.
Special Requirements
Must have and maintain a Drivers License and an insurabledriving record as needed to operate City vehicles.
WORKINGCONDITIONS: Work will includeshift work nights weekends and is performed in a variety of weather conditions with exposure toelements to include heat cold rain and dust.
Kind of Examination
