Are you an experienced electrician with a passion for teaching and mentoring the next generation of skilled tradespeople We are seeking dedicated Instructors to join our team and share their expertise in electrical work with aspiring students. Position Type: Three (3) Term positions available

Hours of Work: 36.25 hours per week

Position Duration: December 2025 - August 2026 (1) and December 2025 - September 2026 (2)

Location: Saint John

Salary: $2454.00 to $3776.00 bi-weekly

What youll do

Responsibilities

You will collaborate with and report to the Academic Chair of Electrical and Pipe Trades. As a member of the faculty team you are responsible for planning and preparing instructional materials and resources; establishing and managing a positive learning environment; instructing and evaluating students; building and sustaining professional relationships with students colleagues community partners and stakeholders; as well as other related duties.

Specific instructional areas and courses within the program may include but are not limited to:

  • Workplace Safety
  • Rigging and Hoisting
  • Mathematics
  • Tools and Equipment
  • Blueprint Reading
  • Communication Skills
  • Employment Skills
  • Alternating Current Theory and Circuits
  • Direct Current Theory and Circuits
  • Canadian Electrical Code
  • Electric Heating
  • Raceways and Cables
  • Residential and Commercial Wiring
  • Lighting Systems

The successful incumbent must also be well versed in using and interpreting the Canadian Electrical Code as it relates to the above areas and be willing and able to integrate technology and active student learning techniques into teaching practices.

What youll need

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • A high school diploma or equivalency with a valid Journeyperson Certificate of Qualification in Construction or Industrial Electrical with a Red Seal Certificate.

  • Preference may be given to candidates with at least three (3) years of related recent work experience at the Journeyperson level.

Professional Skills:

  • Highly flexible with excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to navigate and build relationships effectively throughout the organization.
  • Ability to maintain a high degree of professionalism and confidentiality.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills analytical ability and innovative thinking.
  • Self-motivated service and results oriented.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively independently and within a team.
  • A desire for continuous learning and growth.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.

Other combinations of education and experience may be considered as equivalent. Subject to competition response the minimum qualifications may be raised.
