Job Description

Sr. Manager Strategic Sourcing

We are seeking a hands-on and highly experienced Senior Strategic Sourcing Manager to build and lead a sourcing team dedicated to developing and managing a world-class supply base for materials and production equipment supporting PV eBOS (Electrical Balance of System) manufacturing. This role will oversee the sourcing of critical materials and components for overmolded harnesses metal fabrications and welded assemblies while driving multi-sourcing strategies for high-impact components and addition the position will partner closely with strategic suppliers to secure custom production tooling and equipment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in supplier development category strategy cost modeling and contract negotiation within an advanced manufacturing environment.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Strategic Supplier Development:
    • Identify evaluate and develop key suppliers for PV eBOS materials and custom production equipment.
    • Drive supplier capability assessments for metal fabrication welding harness assembly and overmold technologies.
    • Implement robust qualification and onboarding processes to ensure technical quality and capacity requirements.
  • Category Management:
    • Own sourcing strategy for materials and equipment categories related to eBOS manufacturing.
    • Lead should-cost analysis and benchmarking to drive competitive advantage.
    • Align sourcing plans with engineering manufacturing and operations stakeholders.
  • Negotiation & Contracting:
    • Lead negotiations for pricing terms and long-term agreements.
    • Mitigate risks through commercial agreements including intellectual property protection tooling ownership and service-level expectations.
  • Cross-functional Leadership:
    • Collaborate closely with engineering quality and operations to define technical requirements and supplier specifications.
    • Serve as sourcing lead in NPI (New Product Introduction) and production ramp-up projects.
  • Continuous Improvement & Risk Management:
    • Identify opportunities for cost reduction lead time improvement and quality enhancements.
    • Develop and maintain supplier scorecards and performance improvement plans.
    • Monitor supply chain risk and implement mitigation strategies (e.g. dual sourcing regional diversification).

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering (Chemical Materials Industrial) Supply Chain Business or related field (Masters or MBA preferred).
  • 10 years of experience in strategic sourcing supplier development or procurement in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proven expertise in metal fabrication welding harness assemblies and overmolding processes.
  • Experience sourcing custom production equipment/tooling for high-volume manufacturing.
  • Strong negotiation skills and experience with global materials and equipment suppliers including in low-cost regions.
  • Familiarity with quality systems (e.g. ISO 9001) PPAP APQP or similar processes.
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Managed and led a sourcing team
  • Excellent project management and cross-functional communication skills.

PREFERRED CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Renewable energy or solar PV industry experience.
  • Experience with ERP and sourcing systems (e.g. SAP Oracle Coupa).
  • Knowledge of sustainability and ESG considerations in supply chain decisions.

Travel Requirements:

  • Up to 30% domestic and international travel for supplier audits qualifications and relationship management.
