Inpatient/Outpatient Adult Speech Language Pathologist to work at MGH Main Campus (Boston MA)

We are seeking a curious innovative and creative SLP for a 1-year position with the MGH SLP Brain Tumor Team. The successful candidate will have knowledge and experience working with adult patients with neurological disorders and carry a clinical caseload emphasizing collaboration with neurosurgery and neuro-oncology colleagues. This position requires mental flexibility multi-tasking prowess interpersonal acumen and strong organizational skills.
Responsibilities of the position include knowledge skills and documentation for diagnostic evaluations developing functional therapy goals supporting intra-operative testing/monitoring for awake craniotomy and providing pre-habilitative/rehabilitative treatment to adults with a variety of neurologically based speech language and cognitive disorders across a spectrum of medical case complexity.
Prior professional experience with adults in a medical setting is preferred. This is a 40-hour/week position with both in-person and telepractice components. Workday start times may vary based on clinical caseload with some early mornings required (by 7am; approximately 1-6x/month). Weekend on-call assignments are shared on a weekly rotating basis among the team. Participation in some aspects of conducting clinical research may also be expected.
Required:
Masters degree in Speech Language Pathology
At least 6 months of relevant inpatient or outpatient clinical experience working with a neurologic patient population
Strong spoken and written communication skills in English
Comfort with or willingness to work in an intra-operative setting


Preferred:
Experience in working within and across collaborative interprofessional teams
A strong understanding of neuroanatomy physiology and evidence-based neurorehabilitation strategies
Completed clinical fellowship with CCCs
Cultural and/or linguistic diversity
Experience in both inpatient and outpatient clinical care settings
Clinical research experience

-Conduct assessments and evaluations to identify speech language communication and swallowing disorders.
-Develop individualized treatment plans based on patient needs and goals.
-Implement treatment plans through a variety of techniques and modalities.
-Monitor and document patient progress adjust treatment plans as needed.
-Educate patients and their families about speech and language disorders and provide strategies for improving communication.
-Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure the best possible patient outcomes.
