The Pediatric Acute Care Cardiology Inpatient provider will be working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team within the UT Southwestern Pediatric Cardiology division at Childrens Health in Dallas to provide comprehensive care to pediatric patients on our inpatient cardiology unit. These patients present with a wide variety of congenital and acquired heart disease. This position will require a high degree of critical thinking and clinical expertise in working with pediatric patients in the inpatient acute care cardiology setting. The Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant is responsible for the assessment diagnosis treatment management education consultation and health promotion and care coordination for patients and their families.
Scheduled Hours: variable 12 shifts including nights and weekends

Experience and Education
Required
Education
Masters degree or higher in nursing documentation of completion of accredited Advanced Practice Education Program. Graduate education and related Texas Board of Nursing authorization must be consistent with clinical practice area and patient population. OR
Graduate of a Masters degree or higher Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) accredited Physician Assistant program.
Licenses/Certifications
Licensure as a Pediatric Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (CPNP-AC) by Texas State Board of Nursing. Authorization for prescriptive authority by the Texas Board of Nursing. OR
Certification by the National Commission of Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) certification required. Licensed by the Texas Physician Assistant Board (PA-C). AND
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certified by the American Heart Association or Red Cross based on the UT Southwestern policy for Advanced Practice Providers.
Preferred Experience
One year of pediatric cardiology inpatient experience with heart failure pre and post heart transplant and with ventricular assisted devices preferred.
Experience with peripheral intravenous lines (PIV) removal of chest tubes pacing wires sutures and with arterial blood gas draws preferred.
New grads with previous pediatric cardiac or ICU experience may be considered.
