GENERAL PURPOSE

Under the direction of the Director of Data and Digital Learning Systems the Coordinator of Innovation and Instructional Technology plans develops coordinates facilitates and monitors initiatives for Innovative Learning Coaches (ILCs) and librarians of Stafford County Public Schools (Stafford Schools). The Coordinator designs professional learning opportunities with an emphasis on innovative approaches to instructional technology delivery and leads division wide efforts on digital literacy and citizenship. The Coordinator will collaborate with ILCs librarians school and department leaders to support implementation of research-based and innovative tools and practices that promote deeper learning and support projects across the Department of Innovation and Technology (DoIT) to advance the goals of the Stafford Schools Strategic Plan.

MAIN JOB TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Leads division wide innovation and instructional technology initiatives

  • Provide direction for the integration of instructional technology and innovative practices to enhance teaching and learning across all grade levels.
  • Identify evaluate and recommend digital tools resources and emerging technologies that support instructional and Division goals.
  • Guides ILCs and librarians in their development around providing professional learning change leadership data informed design personalized professional learning and inclusive learning environment.
  • Collaborates with the Office of Talent Development to support ILCs and librarians to foster continuous improvement through effective coaching models and cycles with staff including deeper understanding of the Stafford School Coaching Framework.
  • Lead the divisions efforts in Internet Safety education by designing and facilitating professional development for staff and developing instructional resources and lesson frameworks for teachers to deliver to students.
  • Partner with schools to create virtual learning opportunities for students.

Contributes to division wide systemic process of professional learning

  • Supports school and district improvement priorities through development of professional learning opportunities for teachers leaders and support staff
  • Collaborates with all stakeholders to identify professional needs and coordinates professional learning opportunities.
  • Assesses the impact of professional learning opportunities including course evaluations and systems for monitoring effective implementation and needed follow-up support
  • Maintains and monitors the division wide learning management system for planning managing delivering and tracking of professional development opportunities for all staff
  • Establishes learning objectives and goals for staff development sessions and develops training outlines and timelines
  • Contributes to the short term and long term planning for systemic professional learning

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Masters degree in a field related to instruction required; degrees with an emphasis in curriculum or instructional leadership strongly preferred.
  • Hold or be eligible for a Postgraduate Professional License issued by the Virginia Department of Education required.
  • A minimum of two years of experience delivering and integrating relevant learning experiences with embedded instructional technology/innovation in instructional programs for PreK12 students required; five or more years strongly preferred.
  • Experience with innovative change management within K-12 settings required.
  • Experience with coaching teachers to create change of practice and support student growth required.

WORKING CONDITIONS and PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Work environment is inside an office with moderate noise temperatures that are controlled and no exposure to chemicals or other negative air quality elements.
  • The work is light work requiring exertion of up to 20 pounds of force to move or lift objects.
