A professional who provides leadership direction research and education for our physical therapy

program and services for chronic bleeding disorders. The physical therapist specialist plays a critical role

in preventing joint damage promoting mobility research and educating peers families and the

community on safe physical activities and injury prevention

Additional Job Description:

1. Establish and maintain therapeutic relationships with appropriate interpersonal boundaries for staff and

patients.

2. Manages patient care by first completing an evaluation establishing a treatment plan with objective and

measurable goals (outcomes) and provide direct intervention or supervision of care.

3. Perform therapeutic procedures (exercise neuromuscular reeducation gait massage manual therapy orthotic

fitting and training dynamic activities compression garments).

4. Utilizes and educates about appropriate exercise equipment and treatment modalities for bleeding disorder

patients.

5. Leads the use of musculoskeletal ultrasound (MSKUS) practices as part of patient care education and

research.

6. Assist individuals and families to integrate the medical social emotional and family dynamics of the condition

into the context of their life situation.

7. Participate and lead continuing education departmental meetings and in-service programs.

8. Performs documentation per policy and procedures (evaluations progress notes and multi-disciplinary

education and treatment plans).

9. Facilitates patient and peer education regarding interventions disease/injury safety and wellness.

10. Participate and lead quality improvement initiatives.

11. Leads and facilitates research efforts that promote educational and physical health services.

12. Promote the needs of individuals who are culturally diverse socially emotionally economically and physically

challenged.

13. Views people their knowledge and capabilities as assets and provides opportunities that allow others to

continuously learn and develop.

14. Participates in care planning with the multi-disciplinary team.

15. Participates in and facilitates bleeding disorder foundation programs and activities.

16. Leads education for PTs working in the rare disease space.

Job Requirements

(Education Experience Licensure and Certification)

Doctorate or masters degree in physical therapy from an accredited program.

Active license as a Physical Therapist to practice in the state of Kentucky.

Experience in developing educational curriculum.

Experience in administering programs and directing collaborative PT program activities.

Experience with budgeting for Physical Therapy services and support.

Ability to work collaboratively in a team-based family-centered care model.
